Think I've got to the bottom of this .Apart from the crud and slipping the slave cylinder was not correct .I've had it apart now and it aint right .
Seems it was replaced a while back but was not ...it has been rebuilt using odd bits that are just not quite right .The piston is not a good sliding fit to the bore , ie loose fit ,and consequently is tipping over and jamming up every now and then .
Now we have a new slave ,new clutch and clean box I'm sure it'll be good .Should be back together by Friday I hope 8)

Back together and all seems good so far .Reverse wasn't playing at first but gets better after a quick blast .Too dark and wet now to really push it but I think we are OK 8)

Does that car have a coolant loss problem explaining the funny coloured fine 'dust'?
Thats not dust from the friction plate.

No, not that I can see or been told although gets driven on a dirt road .Only the lower cover plate on the bellhousing ,no small covers for the sides and I don't have any spare ones .
Really fine powder covering everything ,women's foundation type stuff :? Certainly came from outside rather than in .

More bits being attended to whilst it is here .Not my field but the A/C is playing up and looks like a comp fault so off with the old .

I have managed to track down the comp through a top lad on RTOC who is a A/C specialist ( wish I'd found him for JV's project ) He can source/repair any system and has set me up with a trade account so that adds another RATS service
Anyway ,new unit should be with me early next week and then we'll be done I think .

All you need is the tools for de/re gassing and you are away. Lazy guy that did mine wasn't the sharpest knife in the box but managed it ok
I am sure Rats can do better.....

Local mobile guy seems to know his stuff and the MOT guys across the yard can do it also .

Bodged on the new compressor and just waiting on the A/C man to pop round and charge it up for test ...Once I've examined his letters of accreditation that is :roll:

never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

The MOT guys over the yard emptied it .Trouble only comes with the old r12 as they do not want to contaminate their gear so won't do it if it has that .
Luckily it's 134a .

you are 10 years out of date. R134A being a HFC hence a "greenhouse" gas, must be recovered, whats more,for the past 18 months or so you now need a F gas certificate to even attempt repair on an appliace using it.
The only refrigerant that can be released to air are hydrocarbons (R600A.)
I dunno, things folks get away with in the motor trade.
