New A110 Infotainment

Postby aidi156 » Thu May 27, 2021 8:26 am

Warning Newbie post!

I’ll be collecting my A110 S at the weekend, this will be my first experience of Alpine.

All of the reviews slate the infotainment system so I thought I’d ask the group for any Tips and Tricks to get the best out of it. OR is it better to replace it altogether, and if so, what with?

Cheers!

Learn the shortcuts on the column stalk.
Holding the bottom button for >5s loads telemetrics (if you've optioned it)
Holding the top left button for >5s takes you to the home screen
Pulling both volume buttons mutes/pauses.
(neither actually change until you release the button, if you release it too soon then it will do something stupid like change the sound source).

IIRC there are different settings menus from different pages of the various apps (nav/audio etc).

It will default to radio whenever you start the car, regardless of what you were last listening to.
If it's trying to pair bluetooth and the connected car thing (via USB) at the same time, one will probably fail. Disconnect the USB, wait a minute or so, then try reconnecting.

The phone connected apps are shit (other than bluetooth audio), so just get a phone mount and use waze/google maps on the phone.

Given the way the screen is built in, I'm not sure how you could replace it with an aftermarket system.

Yes, Aide, it's a bit clunky and slow and the icons are too small. I think the main criticism (rightly) is that it doesn't have Carplay or whatever the android thingy is called.
Personally I use the local DAB radio when local which is not too bad, and a USB stick with recorded music at other times.
I may be in a minority but I think the Satnav works OK.
All in all, yes it's rubbish when compared to some other systems (Toyota for example), but I don't really care too much - the rest of the car is the important stuff...!
I'm sure you'll be delighted when you get the car.
Enjoy!
Clive.

Could you please tell me how to change the language on the dashboard of the car (gauge cluster)? The instructions are in German, which I don't understand.

I use an Amazon Echo car for audio, gives full voice control & i can access audio via spotify.
Really makes up for the lack of app capability in the system.

Navigation is fine & everything else is great.
