Faulty Horn

Can anyone tell me where to find the horn unit? When the stalk is depressed it makes a movement/contact clicking noise in the dash right of the steering wheel but sadly no horn noise. Figured it might be the unit itself. Any ideas?

Driver's side front in front of the wheel. Relays are behind the drop down fusebox on the drivers side dash.

Anyone else had any problems with their horn?

Went to use mine for the first time in ages last weekend and it just made a sort of croaking noise! Won't be able to investigate until the weekend, but anyone point me in the direction of what to check besides the relays DG's already mentioned? Suppose it could be a dodgy wiring problem if the horn's making some noise but not getting enough power for a proper blast?

Split in pipe or the like ?That reminds me, I must put mine back on before the next MOT Took them off as the bumper outriggers are in the bin ,not saved much weight ,they were mostly holes and rust

Air horn ,the unit is drivers side near wheel arch ,under bonnet .

Cheers. Just had conversation with turbodog and he told me the same. Had no idea it was a air horn. Never bothered looking 'cos it's always worked 'til now!

I have problems with the horn...I look at some of the girls at work and it goes off.....my fiance is deeply unimpressed

There are two actual horns right by the bumper and a length of, by now very brittle, plastic tubing.

Check you've got both and that the tubing is still intact and plumbed properly - I noticed one of them was dangling loose the other day when I was in the petrol station. One cable tie later problem solved.

In my experience it has always been the air pump (located behind the headlight unit off side) that is seized. Pretty cheap to replace with one from a factors. The actual horns are normally fine.

Checked the horn over today. All connections looked ok, relay was clicking, air tubes ok and horns looked ok and not bunged up with debri or anything. But horn still only making a squaking noise. Took the boot liner off to gain better access to the air pump thingy and the squaking sound was coming from this, so I summised it was knackered. So went to the local motor factors and purchased a air horn pack (They had musical Dukes of Hazard style one which I contemplated for a nano-second before sanity was restored!). Driving back from motor factors, after having purchased a horn pack, thought I'd give the horn a try...ARRRHHH! the damn things working! Had a bit of a 'GTA day' today!
