getting at ignition switch

Postby empty » Tue Jul 12, 2005 12:29 am

Hi all,
how do you remove the lower panel under steering wheel?
I've had the steering wheel off, removed the 2 hex screws and also the 2 smaller ones holding the wiper control but it still won't move??
I have the hifi control which seems to have a fixing which I can't see.
I could get a small spanner behind to remove the nut you can see but am worried I won't get it back on.
Seem to have a loose /broken wire behind there.
Any help much appreciated.
regards
Mark

There are another at least another two screws, one each side roughly in line with the rear-most hex fitting. Can't remember if there are another two at the front. When I refitted mine I left off all the other fittings apart from the two large ones as the others were a pain to get to on a regular basis.

You don't need to undo the screws for the wiper stalk, it lifts out with the cover. Also the stereo control can stay attached.
