After all the chat about tyres, I have had Toyo Proxes T1-Rs fitted all round on the standard turbo rims (15") 195/50s & 225/50s. I bought them online at Blackcircles.com & they were fitted locally at a very reasonable £246 inc balancing & VAT

The car is totally transformed to drive. It rides better, & the whine from the rear has gone. OK the rear wheels look a little undertyred, but I can live with that.
