Engine swap A310

Postby Attila » Sat Oct 08, 2016 7:38 pm

Hi.
I live in Norway, and I've come over a '77 A310.
The care locks good, but it has a Citröen XM-V6 engine installed.
My question is: is this a bolt-on-engine-swap or a major engine to car modification project?
Changing engines in Norway is a major problem due to approvals and technical documentation.

Sincerely
Attila.

It's not a straight swap but straightforward. Engine in XM is transverse and has to be modified using parts from your A310 engine so it will drop straight in. If you want to use the fuel injection there are another raft of things to change. Had to Do the same thing putting the Safrane Biturbo lump in my GTA some years back.

You could make the engine look virtually stock if you used a carburettor set up and original air box . If you lose the balancer shaft on the right hand bank you can use standard rocker covers too.
