Expansion of ULEZ to North & South Circular Roads

Postby stephendell » Mon Oct 17, 2016 11:51 pm

Well apparently 7/10 Londoners are in favour of this!! They obviously all want to buy new cars.

If you still want to be able to drive an older pre-2007 petrol or pre-2016 diesel within the North & South Circular roads please complete this survey and oppose the extension now.

I read the article differently.

This Ultra Low Emission Zone will "charge" in addition to the congestion charge ...... it wont actually stop us driving in the zone?

Or option three would be get an electric car put even more carbon emissions into the atmosphere but just not on their doorstep but from some massive chimney out on the coast simple.

Not if you are happy to pay between £12.50 - £22.50 per day 24/7. Can't see many people coming to a Surrey Quays meet again lol

The whole point of charging is to price out those that cant afford it and allow the rich to do what they like with less others on the roads. Sad but true. There should be some sort of scheme that allows casual users into the city and only keeps away the consistant offenders.

Ace cafe then all year then , my reading is that the ULEZ doesn't apply to the Nort/South circular or the area outside it...Ace is Just outside or on depending on your interpretation.
As for the rest, we have to wait until the cars are tax exempt, then it's OK. Hopefully, that means 40 years, so GTA's become exempt in 2026-2030, all A610 by 2034...just in time for my retirement.
Stephen, I'm sure you can manage to slow the restorations down enough for that. I don't think any of us commute in these cars (do we) and the youngest petrol car affected will be 12 or 14 years old depending on the implementation date.
My 2004 petrol is Euro 4 so Ok, anyway, my 2006 Diesel...well I'm stuffed on that, but Boris's bike lane has made going across London slower than the M25 by a big margin, so I don't think I'll mind.
The plummeting pound and the cost of fuel will probably be a factor in regular GTA use well before then.

Ace cafe is no good for me as I will have to move through the ULEZ, ES (T Charge) and congestion zone for a total of around £30. I'll be staying at home.

North circular will also likely be super congested as the last tax free outer road.

I suggested an occasional use or second car tariff for vehicles 30+ yrs old when I completed the survey.

Exemption for classics mooted but not guaranteed yet and still 40+ yrs old (historic tax class) best case.

As lee says doesn't really help for GTA's as we will all be pensioners by then and for spiders & v6 clios more likely dead or at best unable to drive.

Private hire registration seems to be the way to go...

Thin end of the wedge really. Most cities and large towns are looking at similar schemes as operating in London. Just a case of fleece the motorist cash cow again.

It's the scale of the 'Zone' which is the bit that will hurt. The old congestion zone was quite a small area really, and had pretty decent public transport alternatives (OK, jam-packed during busy hours but bearable outside them). The new zone will cause major problems.
Doing the same elsewhere on a smaller scale will have an effect but much less so.

It's not like up north has proper office jobs in cities and they'll probably make allowances for tractors and the like :D

Unfortunately the majority of the public are too lazy to fill in surveys. So it was only done by the very wealthy, The Green-Wash people that think we should cycle everywhere and a few car nuts. So 70% are Greenwash or wealthy.....
I haven't checked the deal with Motorbikes but It could stop me ever visiting London again.

How about converting an Alpine to electric power....sorted! :A310

Must admit I haven't driven through London in years but I think this is abhorrent and unjust to anyone living or working in that extended zone. complete the survey.......it will happen in a city near you!

We do have proper jobs up North, we make lots of things for southerners which they can't make for themselves as they are too weak from pushing pens all day long in offices, also lest ye forget the best Alpine repairer is based 'up norf' and it's wise to keep on his good side and anyway I thought the majority of tractors were based in Chelsea.
