New Alpine A110 owners experiences and photos.

Has anyone else had an Alternator failure? At 11500 miles and just after the first year service mine's been back at the dealer and been gone for over a week with an alternator failure. Apparently it is on back order and no indication when it will arrive! Surely it can't be that difficult to get one or are all the French still on holiday!!!

Can anyone help Renault West London get an Alpine A110 PE Alternator from Dieppe? It seems that after three weeks of having the car the alternator is still in France FFS!!!

It is such a pity that the enjoyment of ownership of such a brilliant car (apart from crap DAB Radio) is waning. It looks like I will be without it for some time yet which, including two week long visits for windscreens, service and software upgrades, means in in one year's ownership the car will have been away for 6 weeks and counting!

Hi, so I’ve collected my Pure today having ordered it at the end of May. Only one photo as you all know what they look like, but this is on 17” wheels and Abyss blue and I think it looks great.



It is already filthy, having been up unclassified roads in the rain and wind but first impressions are good; seats are comfortable with lovely support in the right places, ride is harder than I remember from the test drive on the broken roads I’m often on, but the damping and poise are great.

I’ve not opted for the sports exhaust and it is, perhaps, a little too quiet but I’ve run it almost exclusively in ‘normal’ for this first hundred plus miles so in ‘sport’ and once I’m using more revolutions I may get a bit of bark.

Infotainment is fine but my benchmark for that is a Ford Transit Connect so no problem there and the stereo upgrade seems very worthwhile. Luggage space is going to be a huge problem, but I don’t care!

I really hadn’t intended to get two Dieppe built cars on the road this October, but my 1981 Renault 5 Turbo is finally being put back together after 13 years in partially dismantled storage. We are entered in the Bath Lombard rally tour event in eleven days’ time and the engine & gearbox has just gone back in.



In comparisons about noisy exhausts, you’ll hear this one coming!

Thanks Mark, Alpine West London seem to be trying their hardest but with little luck at the moment. I LinkedIn InMailed Malcolm Banfield the Alpine Territory Manager UK who has responded saying he is aware and is in contact with the Paris support team to see what is going on. Just now also contacted Alistair Sommerville PR Manager Groupe Renault UK and Ireland as he needs to be aware. Asked him what the plans are for extended warranties when the time comes should I decided to keep it beyond that. Keep you posted.

Regarding parts delivery issue; one information I got is that there is a huge logistic problem within the whole Renault Group.
Seems they changed the spare parts management software since July I believe and it causes big troubles.
Even in France, hundreds of customers are complaining awaiting for some parts, so it might be related to reprs's alternator delivery issue as well.

What a load of corporate crap I can just imagine all the emails. Just get hold of the old part and send it to a specialist alternator specialist. The part will have been made by one of the big 2/3 Bosh ect then send the bill to Alpine. You can then get on enjoying your car, or ask for a replacement Alpine until your car is ready.

Anybody personally resolved the door rattle issue? Both mine rattle, on rough roads, exactly the same noise both doors, but other than that there are no spurious noises. This has been discussed on the French site, and I understand the dealers have sorted a few at first service. I am tempted to ease the door liners off and go in with a silicon gun, but it would help if somebody has already blazed the trail

Yes. Near the door latch. Sounds a bit like a cable rattling against bodywork. Mine switches on or off with changes in road surface just like flicking a switch. It seems to stop if I apply light pressure to the door liner.

Yes that's what I have! I was told there are two fixes and the more drastic one involves glue. It's going back and they are lending me an S to try for the day. As you say pressure on it stops the noise. The second rattle I think they said was the coolant bottle and was known about too.

Mine had it on both doors. There are two possible causes. 1) the door pull screw is loose or 2) a damper pad is missing. You need to get the door trim off to fix either.

Any updates on the tyres?

So I have put about 500 miles on the Goodyear F1 SuperSport tyres so far. I was on the last EVO track night at Bedford in September - using the full 3 mile layout. The weather started out patchy, so my driving partner Joe Achilles (check out his YouTube channel for some good reviews of lots of nice cars) and I took it easy at first, building up confidence. On track these tyres just got better and better with no drop off.
At Brands back in July the car had been OK on the standard fit P4 tyres, but I soon overheated the fronts (blame my ham fisted lack of style) whereas here at Bedford the Goodyear SS just kept on going, letting us push the car harder and faster. The car was stable and progressive with just more grip everywhere. I was a bit concerned that the handling character may have changed, or it would have lost some of the fun but nope, no issue at all.
On the road, in particular the M25, the tyre noise has now reduced. At first the tyres were a bit stiff and had less squidge in the sidewalls, having relaxed the pressures a few psi has improved that. And now they have done a few miles I can see no downsides to these tyres and would give anyone looking to improve the dynamics of their car (in particular if doing lots of trackdays) a full endorsement of these. They are as good as my regular Michelin Pilot Super Sports (on my M140) in the dry but do not give up any grip in the wet, probably on a par with the new P4S from Michelin. The tread-ware looks exceptional so far - cannot recommend them enough to be honest.
Would I have been brave enough to have put my money in to them prior to these tests, probably not. I am an avid Michelin man.
Whereas now I have been converted - no doubt the reason Goodyear are promoting them on various customer cars.
There is a good video on Joe Achilles channel of him testing these on an M2 Competition at Brands Hatch, worth a watch if you are considering new tyres.

I take it this is just the usual case of easing something non abrasive between the door trim and door and gently levering off the trim? I take it the damper pad is to keep two things from touching each other? Which 2 things? I need to go back to the dealer anyway for the oil solenoid recall, so I'll see if they can also to the doors. If not I'll try myself.
