Postby clee » Sat Nov 26, 2005 7:09 pm

Why can't you get anything is this country anymore. All I want is a M16 locknut  Tried 7 places to be met with various forms of complete ignorance and looks of astonishment 'thats a bit big mate ,try a bus depot '
Will have to wait till Monday when I can get to my ' specialist outlets '

Taps and dies

Postby darrenbiggs » Sun Nov 27, 2005 11:41 am

I agree.

I ended up re-mounting the battery earth cable onto the suspension turret a few years back after the thread had corroded completely on the normal mounting position. How many local garages actually have a tap and die set? Who knows 'coz they just look blankly at you! It's the work of about 10 mins to resize the hole and re-tap but no none of them have the tools to do it.

I wouldn't mind but they're not expensive and surely they come in useful at some point if you are servicing cars?

I'd be better off driving over to my old school and getting one of the GCSE students to help me.

Lee

try these guys

West Bromwich Fasteners Ltd
5, Greets Green Ind Est, Greets Green Rd, West Bromwich, West Midlands B70 9EW
Tel: 0121 520 6050
Just off M5 Junction 1 probably about 40 mins from you, if you're that desparate, if you can wait a week or so I'm back in the UK for a few days and I'll drop over there and get what you need.

if i need anything nut and bolt wise I always go there and they never fail and they'll sell you just one if that's all you need.
