Recommended Tyres

Just wondering what people are using on their cars at the mo. I'm getting blingin' 17" wheels soon and need to get tyres for them. Any recommendations for Manufacturer and or size?

I have Toyo Proxes T1-R 205-40 and 255-40 on 17" rims.
Not done much serious driving yet, but hopefully soon when it's a bit warmer between rainy days.

Goodyear F1 or Hankook Ventus Sport ,both very good but the Hankook are a lot cheaper .
I do miss the days of unsourceable rears tho ringing round, sharp intakes of breath,'no mate that's not right' don't exist .
I can get a full set of boots for the price of the last std rear I bought

tried them on the circuit and I ended up binning them as they broke away early .
2 of us drove the car with the T1 R's on the back and we both spun the car off we changed the rears for some scrubbed Yokis A032R 's and problem solved!

I now use Yoki A042R (expensive but they are the best so far) on the circuit or Michelin Slicks...

I don't advise spider drivers to use slicks on a road car on the circuit unless you have race anti roll bars.... as many a driver has found out that the standard road antil roll bar cant take the stresses when using slicks and they snap

I've just bought a set of Kumho 712s to try on the road....as they are supposed to be the new undiscovered performance tyre.... We'll see when they meet the mountains

The Toyos are quite a good tyre for what they are, but the Yokos are a different breed....they are sticky road tyres that will only last about half the length of the Toyos. In motorsport they are classified differently due to the advantage the Yokos provide. The ultimate sticky road tyre is the Avon ACB10 or VR500......if youve got the money.....they start at £100 for 13" wheels but will knock everything else into the weeds....assuming you can get the size you want. Closest thing to slicks you can buy.
The Hankook are similar to the Toyo (had them both) and didnt notice much difference other than the price....they are way cheaper!!! Both tyres are well thought of and provide reasnoble grip levels in wet and dry.....slightly better in the dry for the Toyos.

I have those on my white GTA

I've had Toyos on the car for ages - 255 rears and 215 fronts. I really rate them as an all round road tyre as they've excellent grip in the dry and can clear a lot more water than my old Yoko AVS's did in the wet. They last pretty well too and wear evenly across the tread - something the old Yoko's didn't.

Evo rated them about second overall when they did their giant tyre test ages ago and that surprised even them!

I'm sure they can be beaten on track by the trick Yoko's, Avons etc but for road they're pretty good.

At Donnington my car was shod with a pair of Yokahamas on the rear, they seemed ok while on the grass!

I can get Eagle F1s for £95+VAT (255/40-17). Good price?

I'm not necessarily looking for the best grip, but rather the best combination of grip and durability. I don't want to be replacing the tyres after 2-3000 miles as I had to do with the Avons I ran on my Ibiza!

seems like you had a good deal there but the rest of their tyres aren't that well priced ..... their yokies are well expensive for a start

Maybe, but there a bargain for these Falkens, get em while there hot!!!!!
