Clear rear lenses

Postby wolfie308 » Sun Feb 19, 2006 10:43 pm

Hi there,

I am makimg this post by way of a personal introduction and to the products I manufacture, which may be of interest to some members.

I specialise in a growing range of clear lenses many of which are not available elsewhere. These are individually cast and hand finished and have been very well received by owners of a number of different marques.

I have only just last week launched my clear rear indicator lenses for the Lotus Elan M100 / S2, which appear to be the same as the Alpine :D

Here you can see it fitted to the car

My Co-developer has thread running on www.lotuselancentral.com.

You can also check out the feedback I 've received on my thread on www.gt4oc.net, which has been running for.......ever. LOL and also on eBay under my trading name 'Protoprojects'. I put the occasional item on there really just as advertising .

If you have any questions (apart from can you do the outer clear cover to which the answer is 'no'), please feel free to contact me.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Its only the inner lense that has been changed, from amber to clear.

Peter, it's just the amber lens.

You have to dismantle your existing unit, carefully remove the amber lens and then glue on the clear one and reassemble.

I have asked Richard if he can do the red lenses too, to get the full clear look and then I think it would be worth the effort to take the light unit apart.

Richard can't do the outer cover because they are too big and the mould be prohibitively expensive. This is a shame because it would save loads of otherwise perfectly serviceable rear lamps.

I have also asked about clear front indicators (the ones next to the headlamp glass without the horrible grey surround)

With regards to the horrible Lexus clear look lights, I'm working on those

I've always wondered where the old mould tools disappear to after the legal time limit for spares production :? They, for the most part, would still be very servicable .

When Lotus sold the rights to the Elan to Kia, the rear lights got redisigned. However, I was never sure if the car ever went into production anywhere. Here is a pic... I hope.

When they redesigned the lights for the Kia they left the corner off the light unit that was hidden on the Lotus. Hence the new lights don't fit the GTA. You can see this in Rupert's picture.

Blob of Isopon anyone

Actually I'm not sure that round rear lamps would suit a GTA anyway - a bit like when they slapped them onto what was then the Testarossa to make the 512.
I'm just here for the gasoline.

That very nearly works.I think if you filled the panel gap to the rear quarter and to the spoiler it would look OK :?:

It would look ok if it was only four lights, but I think 6 looks a bit busy.

These taillights are no longer available from Korea, so don't ask...
