VOSA inspection during MOT

Postby darrenbiggs » Sat Jul 19, 2014 12:47 pm

Just got the car back from its MOT and service. I had the springs swapped back to standard (albeit refurbed powder coated items supplied by RATS) at the same time, so a bit expensive as they had a struggle to swap one of the fronts springs over as the bolts had seized. So now I'm running GAZ shocks with standard springs. There's a bit of fine tuning to the ride height to be done and then I think turn the damper settings up, but first impressions are good.

Anyway one of the reasons for the cost was they had to do some additional welding around the seat belt anchor point. Just as they were starting the MOT test (separate and independent MOT site to the garage) the VOSA inspection team turned up for a spot check / examination. :?

Apparently they thought the car was great, however they used it then as an example and went over it with a fine toothcomb to QC the examiner's work. Sounds like they went to town on it. As a result I've got a much longer list of advisory notes than last time (which was stringent enough anyway) but it's now passed. Welding seemed a bit superfluous according to the garage but all done now for another year.
I'm just here for the gasoline.

0.75 on CO and 400ppm on HC from memory. So well under. I'm sure some twiddling could tweak it if required so all good and very much near standard.

I think your table changes have cracked it Martin.
