Urgent! Alternator Battery Termina Location

Postby japanalpine » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:37 pm

I did not pay attention when removing the alt wires. It's a Valeo and there is a large suppressor bolted to the bottom. For the one way 2-terminal connector on the top, I've got that. On the bottom, the suppressor is connected to 2 small terminals at the bottom of the alternator, black wire to the right terminal and red to the left terminal while looking at it from the back. Both of these terminals are small. There is also a small terminal on the upper left. It is loose..

Now we come to the battery wire. I think it was bolted to the same terminal as the red wire from the suppressor, but it could have went to the top left. It is a thick wire but the terminal has a small hole to accommodate one of these terminals.

Sorry, no pics at the moment....

Thank you.

Here is a pic of the back of the alternator :-

The large RED wire from the battery, goes to the terminal marked with a " + " , as does the Red wire from the Suppressor. You should have another BLACK wire which goes to the smaller terminal marked with an "M" (Mass/earth} as does the Black wire from the Suppressor.

Thanks again. Unfortunately, the alternator on the car has no markings. I found my multimeter and figured it out. I was in a serious time crunch.

Thank you!

Well done ...... but for future reference the positive terminal has a larger thread than the negative terminal. :up
