Been looking into getting some disks ( one day :!: ) According to those in the know they are the same all round and also Turbo or Atmo .But have just spoken to a guy here ,

He says that the prices shown are correct ,so I asked if he could look up the details 259 20 (18) and 259 22 ( 20 ) .What does the figure in brackets mean ,I know they're either 22 or 20 thick .Another site states these dims for thickness and the lesser figure width :?: :?

The thicker ones can't be worth/perform twice as much so ...............

P.S

Leicester is shite for performance part/shops.Have a mate who's missus works for Greame Goodes ( ex touring car dude ) and so I asked him to get me some prices for some pads/oils etc ( 30% discount :lol: )
Pads were £10 more :!: with the discount :!: :!: and they couldn't even source the Silkolenes ect .Think me open a shop .De is all bling round ere innit .

Stoptech look good.

Rally Design are pants.

3G and Hi-Spec seem okay.

3G are like Black Diamonds

Shopping around Motor events like Donny etc is a god bet.

The figure in brackets is usually minumim thickness (so if its 22mm think new, then it can be worn down to 20mm before replacement) Likewise the mostly used GTA discs of 20mm (far cheaper) have a minimum thickness of 18mm

Thats what I thought it meant ,but they do try to baffle you with ballshot ,It wears the same so why mention it :? I don't think a 20mm disk under normal use is going to warp to much and even if it did, the extra cost for a thicker one is extortionate .

The early cars all had 20mm discs. There were some problems with cracking/warping under heavy braking so all late cars were fitted with 22mm as standard from the factory. Hardly anyone except Renault supplies the thicker discs and yes the price differential is extortionate.

As a result hardly anyone out there with a GTA is running anything other than 20mm. All the EBC & ATE 'upgrades' are 20mm.

I have a pair of almost new eliptical grooved ATE power discs and Bendix red pads that were fitted just before I completed the brake conversion if you are interested. Have literally covered only a couple of hundred miles. The pads look like brand new.

I wouldn`t recommend Black Diamond.

I had them on my GTA and they cracked around the cross-drilled holes and warped after use at track days.

Changed the discs to EBC some years back with no problems since.

Yes, this is the problem with any fully drilled discs, as it creates weak spots. The EBC's are called 'spotties', they have holes but not all the way through..
