GTA population boooom of sorts.

Postby GTAaspirations » Tue Jul 19, 2005 4:50 am

Greeting from another member and aspiring GTA owner from Australia.
Great forum, very informative too. Congratulations.
GTA's and Alpines generally
These things seem to be almost breeding down-under these past 12 months. The GTA is an intelligent car though, as the majority of them have headed for the sunshine and babes of South East Queensland. Our list of Alpine Renaults has expanded here extremly rapidly of late, with 1 Red GTA turbo, one Silver GTA turbo, a Pearl White GTA 'atmo' and also an A110 have found their way here from O/S, not to mention the Red GTA turbo that made the smart move from Victoria. There is also an A610 in the Gold Coast hinterland too. So in and around Brisbane we now have 6 Alpine Renaults.
I am currently on the lookout for a GTA turbo, and hope to sort out the details and have one heading my way soon too, just to boost the numbers a little more. (I fear values will drop though, as they will be nearly as common as a boring old Skyline soon.  )
Cheers from down-under.
Chris.
(here's hoping I find a GTA soon)

Thanks Steve,
I am keen to get a GTA, but my lovely wife is hesitant because of the cost of having it checked out,
because
if it's no good we get zip for our outlay for the mechanical check.
I will keep your in mind though. Yours isn't a turbo model is it?
I am considering the one that finished on Ebay still....may have to email sellr again and negotiate.

Thanks, cheers,
Chris.

Hey Chris,

Steve at Rennosport in Melbourne has one very nice GTA he's just brought in and 2 more on the way. All available and may work out at around the same price as bringing one in yourself without any risk. He's on 0418 548 311 if you're interested.

Cheers

LeMans, I don't think my budget will stretch that far.
The other 2 are of interest though. :(
I am sure though that I could get one here cheaper importing it myself. Then with Stephen checking the car out at that end for me I should be OK.
The one I am considering is the Red '88 that was on e-bay recently, even though it doesn't have a/c. The other 2 that Rupert has are a/c though, but have standard wheels, which I am sure handle fine etc...but the Azevs look the goods. :D If i get one without 17'' aftermarket wheels, I have to shell out a heap more than what an a/c would cost so I think I know what way I'll go.

Yellow,??? Haven't seen any great pics in yellow to make a decision on that colour. How do yellow ones look?? Any links to a good pic of a yellow one?

You'll find pictures of my yellow car in the archive ads (for sale & wanted) + the my cars section in the photo gallery. Send me a PM if you want more details of the car.

If you like Ruperts car I'm sure we could arrange for it to be fitted with a new set of AZEV's before it left the country. That would save the astronomical shipping cost for the wheels on their own.

Makes sense to buy a car with aircon if its heading to OZ.

Thanks Stephen.
I do think it would be a better idea if I #1, got a/c and #2 I imported the car personally. If those are your old cars(for sale here), they may well be very good, but as they are being sold by Rennosport, I fear that because he is trying to make $$ out of it, I may be worse off by a fair way. I was told of another GTA turbo for sale in Melbourne during the RS&AE (renault expo) here in Qld a few weeks ago, but the price was above $30,000 which is over $10,000 more than I can really afford. Importing myself, I should get out under $20,000, registered here.
What's the UK price for a nice set of 17'' wheels, doesn't matter what sort, second hand would be good enough for me, even a good set of s/h tyres would do. I think a nice set of wheels really sets off the car.

How hard do the atmo cars go compared to the turbo ones. I have a Saab 9000 '86 at the moment and even in that when boost winds up it's fun. I do like the note of the atmo cars. Rupert's red atmo sounds great.
Thanks once again for all your input. It's been a great help.

Regards,
Chris.

A set of new Azevs is £695. With buget tyres around £1000. So around $2400 AUD

My old yellow turbo used to be silver and the engine is now a little tired snd in need of a rebuild. (intermittent knock). It was worth around £3K so around $7-8K AUD would be a reasonable price as is.

The yellow atmo belonged to Lee (who also had my old yellow turbo). He sold both to Steve.K. so PM him for more details.

Atmo or turbo really is a personal choice, but Turbos are easier to sell when the time comes.

I actually just finished lookignat David G's site, and there are some nice wheels there. The Azev E's are nice, and the Diablo's look great too.

The Diablo's in silver would be great...I also liked the Pro-race 1 in black or white, but they'd only suit certain cars.

I am looking for billy's anme in the member list, isn't in the b's?? :?
