Weight of Spider engine cover?

Bit of a long shot but has anyone ever weighed the Spider engine cover (road car). I am sizing some gas struts to replace the metal stick (which is useless!) and the weight would help with the force that I specify for the struts.

Otherwise I go for adjustables and just turn them up!!

Sorry, I can't help David, but that is a good idea. Was at the Buntingford car show yesterday and was thinking the same thing as I was constantly opening and closing the engine cover - holding it up by hand, not wanting to rely on that useless little metal bar.
