Race Spec Flight of Fancy

Postby clee » Sat Jul 30, 2005 4:44 pm

Two very poorly atmo's up for sale at the moment on Ebay.................Now whats the thoughts on these for a pure race/track day project :?: Both have dodgy motors so at what price do they become interesting :?: both have low milage and the red one, sight unseen ,poss a bit better, as it looks all there and should raise some cash in binned bits . Would it be poss to turbo the bigger block economically and in which classes could you run it :?:

Anyone fancy going halves :D

Thought it wouldn't last long
Fed up with being fiscally challenged  Will have to make a determined effort to get some monies in and spend it wisely soon .
Wonder how much it went for :?: :?: :?:

Lee, there was a recent post about increasing the capacity of turbo engines and turboing the 2.8 and the conclusion was that it wasnt very cheap or straightforward I think.

Yes I can confirm I have bought the blue one and its in need of alot of love! I need to have a think what to do now, because it would be salvageable as a racecar although my first thought was to use it for parts. Although I don't think the mileage is spot on (unless they pushed it home from its last MOT!) it would appear to be very low, the tan leather interior is in excellent condition and although the engine has been standing it does turn over and looks in excellent condition (unmarked rocker covers etc). Its had a poor repaint - was originally black. It also needs rear glass, headlamp glasses, some light body repair, possibly a front nose cone. I may abort my current race car project and use the interior to replace the one I've sold, the turbo would make a nice car with a repaint so it would then be sellable without too much work - its very good mechanically and the engine is sweet. Then with the left over atmo make a race car. Looks like I'm going to be busy one way or another!
