A610 Wiper Motor Replacement.

Postby Bazzer501 » Sun Jan 26, 2020 2:51 pm

Hi all,
Well... I'm back with this topic again, that is noisy and juddery wiper motor..
My 1993 A610 is at a local garage being serviced so I've asked them to have a look at the windscreen wiper motor. They haven't removed it as yet as its almost impossible to get out without removing the heater box etc.
That said on the motor, other than the Valeo label there is no part number stickers...nothing but the wiper mechanism seems fine so it looks like the motor is the culprit.
I was at Stephens place last week and I photographed a GTA motor but it transpires they are quite different. I have also left a message for Simon Auto as it is shown in their catalogue, Page 21/02, Part No 211039 but as yet I haven't heard back from them.

I have also posted on a few of forums with no result apart from a reply from Club Alpine Dieppe where a CAD member provided a link that advised it is 'probably' from a Mk1 Renault Twingo.

On the link CAD provided The photo of the motors shows a sticker with Valeo 535 45 702 and a separate number MFD 250B
This does cross references with a Renault part number: 7701 669 838.

I really don't want to be in the situation of buying a Mk1 Twingo motor only to find its the wrong one as there are variants of these so I was wondering if any members on here knew what the motor is from so I can buy the correct one, once and for all.

This was the link provided:

Sur le forum A610 j’ai trouvé la référence Valeo qui est 535 45 702 et on trouve cette référence de moteur essuie-glace sur Twingo I à 45€ en occasion

Any advice welcome,
cheers Barry.

Hi Stephen,
The garage in Andover ordered a motor Based on the numbers on the motor I photographed at your place...and it was different to the one fitted to my A610. The GTA one was a S.E.V Marchal unit not a Valeo one. Apparently MFD 250 B is listed as a Technical Information Number ...whatever that is. I think that cross referenced with a Valeo Number: 579223 but that was the wrong motor for my A610.

So maybe the MFD number is a 'style' of motor number. I don't know I'm just guessing here hence my next post on here as I seem to be going round in circles.

Regards, Barry..

Also, I should have added on Simon Auto's site there are two different numbers for GTA motors depending on year and a third different number listed for an A610 motor so it looks like there are three motors in all.

Hi Barry,
Don't forget LHD A610 have conventional wipers, RHD is the same as a RHD GTA (according to the parts book) . LHD part numbers are different for GTA and 610.
The french forums wont be aware of this, I suspect. Similar story with wing mirrors. RHD are a pale imitation of the updates between the GTA and 610 in LHD.
Checking the 350d reference gives three different part number in Valeo...53548702 (twingo) 53548402 (megane 1 and peugeot 505) and 53544102- citroen Saxo.
All three look very similar with only the electrical connections being different, so it MAY be that any of them will do with a wiring plug swap...prices from 35-115 though.
Sorry a bit short of time today so cant follow this one all the way down, hopefully one of the experts will tell you which one it is.
Good luck with your hunt.

Morning Lee,

Thanks for this information.
I'll go to the Garage today and take some photos of the connectors and compare them with the wiper motors with three Valeo part numbers you've provided and hopefully I can get something sorted.
One other thing, and please excuse my ignorance but what is the 350d Reference?

Regards, Barry.

350d is a typo on my behalf...MFD 250 B is what is should have said.
Park position is the other variable, but from memory you can adjust that in the mechanism.

I hope I'm correct on this one....good luck.

UPDATE:

Hi Lee/All,
Well, Iv'e heard back from Simon Auto in Germany and the A610 Wiper Motor is no longer available through them...!

If an A610 owner on here could have a look at their wiper motor with a small mirror then maybe they could see the Valeo motor number and that would be a quick fix solution...!
Regarding the other possibilities, it does look like the motor itself is the same/very similar for all three you mentioned Lee but its the connecting cable that is different. most seem to be of a square section whereas the A610 is different as shown below, also some of the 5 pins seems to be in different locations within the connector (could these be moved?)

I'll do some more research tomorrow as I've only just got in from a long cold and wet day at the Garden Centre and I feel
kn@@@@@ed

Hi Barry,
I'm away so dont have my wiring diagram to hand.
If that is a picture of your wiper, then there are some with the same.plug (megane 1 units if I remeber correctly).
If the pins are in the wrong place, they should be easily moved.with the right tools (ebay is your friend for those).
I'm sure its fixable...and once it's worked out sharing the info would be great...
My GTA wipers need to.come out for adjustment but that won't be forma while. Rhd GTA and 610 have the same.part numbers.
Cheers
Lee

Can you get the motor rebuilt Barry? A decent specialist should hopefully be able to repair it?
I'm just here for the gasoline.

Morning Lee and Darren,
Well I'm still not a lot further forward on this other than speaking to Paul Sage who thought is may be Mk1 Clio and also to Peter Whitehouse yesterday who has an Alpine/Renault parts list that cross references Alpine part numbers with Renault part numbers.

The Renault Part Number for this is 60 00 008 290 ... which not surprisingly isn't available, anywhere. Going to speak to a few other people today and if all else fails were going to see if the motor can be rebuilt, as Darren suggested.

I have looked at Mk1 Megane, Twingo, Laguna and Saxo motors but all are slightly different with different electrical connectors with the wrong shaped connector blocks and pins in different locations. The A610 one has a cable on it about 150 mm long with a roundish connector with 5 connectors in it in a specific layout.

And all of this is because the Valeo part number is missing from the motor...!

Cheers, Barry.

Barry - Have you taken a picture of the actual motor and posted it along with the picture of the electrical connector on the Renault Owners Facebook page? One will know which other Renault model it came off as they are all very knowledgeable. Someone may have a spare available as well.

I will have a look at mine today and see if I can see any part numbers for you,

Hi Barry,
Do you have the Renault equivalent number?
All of the cross reference lists I have are LHD only. If you have a RHD Renault number, that would be an excellent place to start.
I’m sure you will get there (and that will help us all).
Cheers

Hi Lee?All,
As mentioned above the Renault Part Number for this is 60 00 008 290 but is no longer available.

The garage removed the wiper motor again and its now speeding its way to London to a company that refurbs vehicle motors of all types particularly vintage and classic called Robson & Francis Rewinds..

The obscure label in the motor was unlike any Valeo label I've seen to day and the garage think this was a car industry label used by Valeo rather than an after market one. Iv'e tried to do a transcript of what I could read off it.

Cheers, Barry.

Hi Barry,

Just had a look at photos of the wiper assembly of my A310 when I removed it during the restoration. I've attached some because the motor looks very similar to the one on your car except for the wiring connections. They're just spade connectors on my car. The motor itself might be another cross reference for you to look at.

It's an S.E.V Marchal motor.
