I called the company (Renault Specialist Breakers?) whose phone number was at the top of this thread.
I was told that the boxes are UN1-13 which I believe are R21 Turbo boxes. I would expect our V6 bell housings to be different, and the crownwheel will be on the wrong side, but can be flipped. I don't know about any of the mount fittings or the gearshift set up.

The company said they had 25 of them, and were looking for around 450 Pounds each. They had said that they had got them from France.

Could be quite a lot of work if you want the ratio's right too- 4th and 5th are lower than for an Alp, so they might need to be changed too. Good price though.

Alan i would take whatever they say with a pinch of salt.
They informed me they were definetly not UN1 as its not stamped on them.

Urban myth I'm afraid. They have just two and they're not UN1s.

These are the photos of the gearboxes that Specialist Renault Breakers sent me. :?
I couldn't tell from looking at the photos as to what they're off as there is no ID tag on the end of the gearbox, someone else in the club may know.

Looks like Fuego NG boxes, they were quite popular in Spain.

In the second photo there looks to be a tag at the top. Maybe ask for a photo of the tag to prove it to all of us. Seems there is certainly some interest at the price if the boxes can be adapted for our use.

The tag on the boxes says

1983 BOITE PONT 36909/000426

and he has three of them.

I will ask my Renault contact if he can look up these numbers, if anyone else has a contact with Renault they maybe able to ID them.

So pleased I don't need a gearbox for my alpine Mind you its been garaged for 3 months so god knows what faults will have developed while its not ran. Battery, speedo and trip all spring immediately to mind. but a gearbox I hope not, however if I do I'll order one of those dogs bullocks ones mentioned in an earlier thread.

Role on May and some sunshine.
