Got mine from Simon in Germany, I can't remember how much they were but certainly much cheaper than the rob dogs at Renault. I wouldn't bother with 2nd hand if I were you.

I need to remove the offside lower rear wishbone for MOT repair. Assuming I can get it off and back on again ok :roll: , will the rear suspension be all to cockerel and need re-aligning?

I think that depends on how you juggle the packing/alignment washers/shims.

Why not get the tracking measured before you remove it, and then again afterwards to be sure that it is the same as before.

Can't move the car to have the tracking checked unfortunately, as it has no brakes - literally! Waiting to fit a new caliper, so I can't drive the car. That's why I'm taking the wishbone off to have it repaired. I shouldn't be disturbing any shims should I if I'm only unbolting it where it hinges?

Juzz, I have never remover a wishbone, only the wheel hub. I seem to remember a page in the w/s manual... or was it a thread on here, about wishbone adjustment and shims.


Oh yes, it was a "toe-in" type thread and a right old mucking fuddle about the ins and outs of the GTA toe and who was doing it the right way.

Yes, I've looked at the manual and the shims appear to be under the bracket the wishbone bolts to, so shouldn't have to disturb them I think. Anyway, it's got to come off, so I'll have the wheel alignment checked afterwards to make sure. Cheers Simon.

Its not a problem if you put the shims back as they were, nothing technical to it. :)

Make sure you soak everything more times than is needed, the hex bolt which goes through the back of the wishbone/mounting bracket welds itself to the bushes :roll:

DG offered me some reconditioned wishbones for £80 each clee? Mine were not as bad as I thought so have done a slight repair.

I got mine welded in the end ..........It was the flat plate where the anti-roll bar mounts that had gone not the main structure .That was over a year ago now :shock: things have moved on a bit since then :lol: :lol:

Came off quite easy in the end. Gave everything a good soaking and you were right Martin, the hex bolts were hardest to budge, but turned freely once I got them snapped loose.

Just the flat plate on mine too Lee. Needs a bit of welding along the seam where it joins the wishbone. Must be a common point of failure by the sound of it.
