Old/Faulty A610 Water Pump Wanted

Anyone got one knocking around which they don't need or forgot to bin when you changed yours?

Want to check/experiment as the Laguna 3.0 12v pump (£50) seems to be the same as the 610 one (over £200). The pulley is the only thing I can see different though so want an old one to see if you can get the pulley off (610 pulley available seperately).

Anyone help?

Ahh now then ....Pressing it off is not an option :evil:
I've tried and it won't .....But I'm also thinking that that is not the way to do it anyway ...it may screw off ? I dunno but wonder why the center of the spindle is tapped ??

They do press off. The centre is threaded because that's how the pulley is pressed on in the first place.

The easiest way to press it off is to thread a high tensile bolt into the centre and press that. The shaft is the inner bit only, not the whole diameter of the poky-outy-bit. You can see it on this DeLorean one here

Yes,that's how I tried but it wouldn't budge .The puller deforms or breaks the pulley before owt will move .Some are tapped ,others a solid bar .
Have you actually succeeded in doing this ? Or are we talking theoretically :P

No you definitely can't pull the pulley off, you have to press the shaft out through the middle. It'll take a couple of tons to do it, not the sort of force that can be withstood by a pressed steel pulley innit :wink:

And yes, I've done this an awful lot of times because DeLorean pumps don't come with pulleys (unless you buy a new machined one) and you have to transfer the old one across.... :P

I may be being thick here but how do you support the pulley to press the spindle out .Does it just go hard up on to the pump body ?
In any case I've fecked it up trying ,good job it was a old piece of Laguna .

:roll: it was off a 24V as it happens, has the right nose length, Laguna one is the stubby one with the cast pulley.

I didn't try pressing it off with a hydraulic press as I was running out of time, so put a hydraulic puller on it and got p*** off and just sent it up to the organ grinder :lol:

I should have another one I'll stick it on the press and see if it budges - put some stout bars under the pulley and press the centre down

Good job I've got friends electric for my motor then init :wink:

Cheers for the replys guys, not looking good for the pulley change as of yet but it still does not answer the original question which I need to confirm first:

Is the basic water pump for the Renault Laguna 3.0 12v the same as the A610's?

Anyone got a picture of a 610 pump off the car at all?

Well it was, but I just want to confirm it is the same pump....

I'm not taking mine of until I replace it! It's still not leaked since (famous last words and AA card ready for next Sunday) which is why I'm in no rush to replace it but I will do it sooner rather than later
