BTW: My question from the first post stands; what exhaust system do people prefer on A310´s?

I don't have a preference because I haven't tried any other systems than what was on the car when I bought it. So no help to you in that respect. However you might be interested in what is on the car. The photo below was taken when I was trial fitting the hanger straps that I made to replace the original straps.

In 1987 the previous owner had the original system replaced with a stainless system by an exhaust fabricator in Nottingham. They're actually still in business and have a website. Although nearly 30 years old the system is still in good condition. It's not loud but just right in my opinion, sounds good under acceleration and on the overun.

GTA atmo owners may have experience of alternative systems.

I have the Mecaparts stainless exhaust on my GTA atmo....nearly 10 years old now...
After 12 months one exhaust manifold pipe cracked....(about 10mm from the block)
And earlier this year one of the tail pipes fell off....this time along a weld line.
It has a good burble ...though maybe a bit too noisy on long drives.
My Mecaparts silencer had no mounting brackets.
I don't think I would recommend the Mecaparts exhaust as my experience has not been great...i sense getting a custom one made locally is the best route...and it can be adapted if it does not suit in terms of noise etc.

The yellow '3-stud' A310 (which is now in Spain) had a mild steel street 'Devil' which was nice but when it came to replacing it, it would have had a stainless steel copy by whoever I could get to do it here.

The Red '4-stud' came with a stainless steel one which looked like it was a devil street copy (made by the same guys that did the stainless manifolds and engine bay metalwork but whose name I can't remember.... something and cross maybe)..

I'd suggest you find someone who makes stainless exhausts locally and get them to copy your existing one. If you want a bit less noise and/or a bigger bore (or whatever) then I'm sure they can make the necessary alterations. I'd guess you'll take the car off the road in the winter, so take the exhaust (and manifolds) off for them to copy.

If you are after a better performing exhaust system then you should separate the banks with two individual silencers. Most of the aftermarket silencers aren't great from a performance aspect.

Would this fit A310? Looks like the silencers are roughly the same height in relation to the engine and the marginal difference would be easy to adjust.
But will the headers fit between the wheelarches?

I don't have my A310 here for comparison but my initial guess would be 'No'.
Something looks wrong about it and I'm not sure what.
Even looking at the Mecapart web-site exhaust pictures doesn't help me (Maybe I'm beyond help!).

Unless you have moved the alternator to the top of the engine, the passenger side silencer on the delorean exhaust will work as a hot-plate for cooking the alternator.

The alternator in my car is moved up and to the left of the engine for the Devil headers fit so that wont be the problem.
The delorean is quite a bit wider in the rear so my concern is it wont fit or look funny because of that.
However, a guy one hour south of here has just bought this for his Delorean....Hopefully i´ll find some time to go down and check it out before he installs it.

I wonder how much the original exhaust setup weighs? I rekcon by changing it out with a superlight system and moving the battery to the front, the weight distrubution would be improved by a couple %.

My mecaparts exhaust has been great. I bought mild steel manifolds and a stainless silencer.
The mild steel headers are less likely to crack

It wouldn't be logical to change the devil headers, as they're good items.
Can you not get stainless steel (INOX) exhausts made locally?

I've just come back from a few days with my Alpine friends in Germany and they all say that the Devil sport is great but too noisy for sustained use, and that the standard Devil is the best alternative for regular usage.
Personally I'd get a local specialist to copy one in stainless steel if possible but if not, I'd check Mecaparts and Simon auto for the best deal.
