Tensioners here now ,with guides and new filters .I bought a few as they had them ...then Phildini chirps up with another set of guides so I have plenty stock ....

Found some boots that suit .
They are not stretch type so a lot more durable and I managed to stretch them on in any case with a pneumatic stretcher .
They are not shaped internally so don't seal as well as the OE so I've used jube clips instead of the normal pinched type fixings .
Anyway a lot better than before :lol:

Does the extra diameter clear everything on the subframe? I remember looking and thinking some of the clearances were quite small. Tough one as originals are NLA.

Look forward to hearing this works. I guess the stretcher was to get it over the joint without dismantling?

Yes ,stretcher the only way really .You have to deform the metal cover and remove to get the spider off .Repair kit from Renault is the metal part + rubber bit ....But I didn't even want to go there .
Clearances ? will have to see ..nothing ventured .Inner should be fine ,outer we may have issues with arb but looking at picture left ,we may be fine .

watch those Jubilee clips, those hefty screws cause unbalance hence the oetiker type originaly fitted.

It might matter on a weedy icle Spider lump but surely not on a massoooovpower torquetastic 610 :lol: :wink:

It's more a case of keeping the grease in than anything else .The OE ones have a 45 degree ' wedge ' internally that seals so they don't need that much clamping strength to keep together .
Given the lack of OE this is the best I can come up with .
Dynamic balancing of driveshafts ? I would if I could but I can't so I won't .
Mind I could spend a few hours on a V block and get the screw mechs aligned just so ..

the balance remark is from something else altogether, but it does stop me trying a solution as you have done here. I really dont want the knock out the bearings of a Sadev.

Lee a jubilee clip will effect balance. I would normaly offset be 180 however you kook like you have done the opposite on the inboard end which will cancel out. Dave

Liner protrusion test as per book use a straight edge and feeler gauges. Sent head if for a quick skim. Hopefully refitting saturday will let you know the outcome. Regarding gaskets bought 2 complete sets of ebay.
