A610 HCK

Could do with some subframes .......I'm pretty much committed to making new ones especially as Sean's 610 is screaming out for a new uprated one ....
Anyway any new bits that anyone makes is most welcome .I just don't want to be doubling up on stuff so if you are actually going to do something then please let us all know

Rot in top of front wheel arches ..All done now and car in the storage facility waiting for me to catch up with engine bits .Feckin stupid remote filter pipes are fecked on this one as well so I'm going to have to get a kit made up ......


Both sides but drivers side the worst .Bumper ans wings off to do it ..

Finally got a few bits back from the powdercoat and so have stock for quicker turn round on refurbs .....ish....



Is anyone interested in new re-manufactured and uprated subframes ? I really need to do it but the jig costs etc are a bit
Just a general idea if of any interest please .Will all be based on the 610 design which has extra bits for strength but totally suitable for GTA and will also be designed for easy camber adjustment using std wishbones and mount gear .
This should get all those slammed big booted beasts to handle a tad better

Do you really need a jig, won't the back end of a GTA do as a template?

probably 6/700 .
Jig is the biggest cost but essential for accuracy and repeatability .Big feck off plate with pick-up points etc etc etc

May I humbly suggest you hot-dip galvanise them as well as powdercoat? Costs £200 to do a whole DeLorean chassis and all the suspension arms so one of those subframes wouldn't be much and you then know it's protected inside and out and good for 20 years plus.

I use Wedge Galv in Newport, but there's one in Worksop who also offer a collection and delivery service.

Amazingly for rural Essex, there is a galvanising shop here too...ex Crittal windows, remember them, I often follow off stuff that's just been treated when going to work.
Sounds even more important than powder coating.
Are lower wishbones on the list too, or are there plenty about?

No me neither but the galv frame I have is certainly a hell of a lot heavier .

I've got about half a dozen pairs of lower rear wishbones .2 brand new pairs with std crap Renault paint job and a few re-furbished .
There are tubular ones available still ?? Not sure .

Doesn't seem to be people hammering down the door on subframes tho .....I will still do it as I want one and I'm sure the Yellow 610 will be having one

It's probably one of those "you don't know you need one" until its too late items.
How does this cost compare with your repair costs of an existing one?
Will you need to get a batch made or can they be ordered as needed? Will. Batch be cheaper?

I haven't weighed the difference but as I had to manhandle the entire frame out of my garage on my own, I can tell you that I succeeded in getting it back in again after getting it back and didn't notice a difference.

That is a seriously nice piece of engineering, and worth every penny... compared to steel, it's approx 3-4 times more costly on material alone, more difficult to machine and weld... that is quite simply a bargain. If I had a mini I wouldn't even think twice at that!

Exactly what I thought Martin. Half the weight, pretty much corrosion proof and stronger. There's some nice engineering going on there.

That front subframe looks a lot more complex than a GTA one too.
