Lee

Looking great, I will come back to you in the paint tomorrow.

Lowness looks about right, 2 fingers between top of the tyre and the arch?

I think the early cars (1986-1988) were all 436 Stratos Blue but the later cars (late 89 onwards) were 488 Alpine Blue. With the very late cars there were quite a few shades used, or was it just a case or running out of 436 and 488 and just using what was left from yesteryear

Its 1989 if that helps.

Is the colour code no on the chassis plate?

It should be 488 but doesn't look like it to me .Usually a sticker near the headlight but no such luck here .Even so it may not be OE paint ...who can say .
Brochure I have has a swatch page but only 488 ,supergloss metallic alpine blue is shown and looks darker .

I hate paint

Chassis ...529. Stratos Blue with Beige Leather. I had that for a while in 1993. Bought it from Tower Garage in Essex, who had advertised it in The Sunday Times. Sold it on to, I kid you not, a guy called Withnail who clearly "Wanted the finest GTA available to humanity. He wanted it there, and he wanted it then". He paid £10200 for it, and then promptly drove it through a hedge backwards. I have no idea what happened to it after that, other than that he tried to foist the blame onto me... He must have been related.

Just remembered this ...ignore the bit about the hedge mind

I have a brochure, publication date of 10/88, which gives the code "Supergloss Metalic Stratos Blue 436".

436 it is then

Don't worry about the hedge incident Nick, quite a few of them have seen the wrong side of a hedge/fence in the past

OK, I was probably a little less than sensitive on the hedge matter, merely mentioning it for comic effect.... As I remember, the back bumper needed a little tlc and one of the rear wheels needed replacing. Otherwise, it was perfectly ok to drive on the spare.

Peel those stickers off the numbers plates, and I bet it still says Maple Leaf. I made 'em....

Definately Stratos Blue though. I hope that puts everyones mind at rest.

Hmmm, wells not listed as a write off. I am hoping that a GTA won't be as wayward as the Tuscan!
