Time to start another

Rottbott's 610 is in for some care and attention .Originally to sort out the crusty suspension and running gear .






But also some odd overheating issues ,strange additional plumbing



As with all things it starts to get more complicated ...A quick compression test reveals good results on the middle pots , 155 psi both sides but dire on all the others ranging from 130 right down to 100 on # 6
Out she comes this weekend and we'll see what's what .Whilst it's out it makes sense to refurb the subframe along with the runnig gear so that will be off to the shotblasters and hope it comes back in one piece

Oh no suspension looks like mine (which is next on my to do list!!) but that plumbing looks crap, at least it is at the right place to sort it out. Robbot you should do a blog on you car of all the progress.

Would be interesting to know more about what it's doing. Not part of a hose split repair when original hoses were hard to come by?
Looks like part of the overheating issues could be related to this - there doesn't seem to be anywhere for the top hose to expand into the top of the tank

Nah, it's just a connection to the radiator bleed. It was done to try and stop airlocks in the rad but that was only a symptom of the underlying problem.

Edit: It was overheating long before that was added, it's not causing it!

That boost hose does'nt look too hot either!! Mabe just maybe there will be some samco hoses made for the 610 so we can all change them!!!

All you need is a bit of gaffer tape
Job done.

It's a lot kinder to the metalwork, and is the perfect first step before hot-dip galvanising.

Yes ,remember now , Rob did say something about getting it treated I'll put it all to one side for collection .Shot blast tends to find all the weak and dodgy areas though .You can see the diff in texture and colour on weakened areas and it also blasts out the real gone shit .

I agree it's useful to *know* what's weak, but equally shotblasting can't get on the inside of tubular structures. I've used SPL a couple of times and what comes back is absolutely mint steel - in other words if you leave it for even a couple of days it starts to rust. It's these same tubular bits and bobs that really benefit from galvanising cos it coats them inside and out.

If you do decide to use SPL, they do a lovely job of cleaning old PRV castings too

Will see how much is in the budget .
I've got a full galvanised rear ,wishbones ,frame the lot .Only trouble whoever did it didn't take the bushes out properly , just knocked the center out I've got the outer top hats still in the wishbones and galvanised ...inside and out

Mind first time I did it I did the same with the bushes

Heart is out .
Has some gator issues and general crud but came out pretty easily .No snapped fixings apart from jube clips .
Time to start stripping down and cleaning up ....yippee

Lee, if you find a boot to fit let me know please......they are bigger than GTA's across the UJ's.
