GTA knocking noise

I have a knocking noise on my GTA atmo. most noticeable at tick over, disappears when reved and returns at tick over. appear to be getting worse of the last few miles more noise when hot too. I have recently recommissioned it after a 12 year lay up and the engine was rebuilt in 2006. sounds a bit bottom end to me. but not the normal off throttle knock when an end goes.
tappets ok and compression all good.
I have now dropped the bottom end and all looks ok, I will drop a few caps and inspect. BUT I notice the rods are not symmetrical and have not been installed in a the same orientation or pattern, there is more of a web on one side. Does anyone know if this is important and how they should be installed?

Did you try putting your foot on the brake pedal with the engine running Dave?

Well the equivalent rev up in gear foot on the brake and slip the clutch. No rattle

3 pics of each pair of journals. no 6 with the cap off. that all looks in good shape.
you will see the issue on rod orientation
rear set both facing the same way
middle set facing the same way
front set facing away from each other
Anyone know the torque setting for the big ends?

Just spoken to John Law and having a rod the wrong way round will cause a knocking noise. I have 2 rods fitted the wrong way round one on each bank so its probably an engine out job. Do the clutch as well and put new seals in the gearbox while I'm at it.
