Ive asked some questions!!! Bearing mind how beneficial an LSD would be for my sport and the fact that one costs £800 on its own without fitting its starting to look attractive :D Hopefully I wont get drunk one night when I'm looking at it and go mad!!

Unfortunately that 0.1% means the diff is the wrong way round, the bellhousing is the wrong type, the input shaft outer tube is the wrong length for the V6 bellhousing and the gear linkage levers are the wrong orientation to work on a GTA.

sounds like 0.1% is ok, so long as you have a club hammer, a mole wrench and some string to hold it all together.

OR, maybe you will just take the LSD out of it and junk the rest back onto ebay.

Oh well! Whats scarey is that Trudy is away on some hen weekend of a mate and I text her saying I'd seen a trick gearbox that would do nicely but it was expensive and I would have to sell her to buy it....and I got one back saying - ha ha but if I really wanted it I should just stick it on a credit card  I'm assuming she was drunk!!!

Next time I get the box out I may well fit an LSD...is it a difficult operation on the GTA gearbox?

Was offered this box back in December, but like most of us I just don't have £1500 spare
I sold my comp box two years ago as it sat under my bench at work for a similar period in bits before hand and the LSD was only a Renault sport modified Ford item? and the gearbox casing adapted to suit the larger diff case.

This is the Europa Cup diff

Image

It fits into the original casing apart from shimming and unlikely its a Ford item, mainly because it would need to be from a transaxle (which Ford have never made), and the 4 helical gears and crownwheel etc are still Renault parts (as used on the A610) which are unlikely to work with no modifications to non Renault parts..

If the diff was physically larger, so much work would need doing. You would need new castings for the box casing, and even the bellhousing would need the cast bells (where the diff rins) next to the input shaft to clear it, but you can see on the Prima box that the bellhousing is standard.

but what ratios are in it are the same or near to the GTA's? you might end up with a quick accellerating car that runs out of puff at 130...... good for the circuit or a hillclimber though.......

130mph in reverse!!! If this had been the correct box for the GTA then I'd have bought it....but £1500 for one that needs taking to bits, re-jigging and putting back together.....I'll just have to make up the odd 1/4 second another way!!!
