it just some how looks a bit heath robinson, rocky and not too stable to my eye. and i could well use that sort of money else where....... till the clutch goes again.

I've got one. same spec.....but with it's own hydraulics so you only need to plug it into the leccy, a very useful bit of kit indeed for the DIY mechanic...... it stores flat so if you car is normal height you can store it underneath 8) simple to use plug the resevoir/ pump control box into the mains and voila, only downside it's damn heavy to move around though :?

That was a quality decorative fine oak ceiling beam and celcon blocks, thak you very much.

if it can hold the house up for 20 years and does not bend when front end of LS400 is driven over it, i'm happy. It gave excellent acces to all areas under the car which the hrdraulic lifter might not do with regard to the central tunnel. The most strenuous part of my operation was moving those heavy blocks around, but not as heavy as your lift by the sounds of it.

I did see a 4 post lift on ebay a while back, but some how managed to miss the end of the auction, that saved a few hundred quid too.

whatever........ you save you cash mate :lol:

I have enough lifting gear in my unit we have a 2 post 3 tonne ramp also which is a lot easier to use than an old piece of rotting wood and some crumbling concrete blox.


back to the subject in hand......and not the subject if we want to be tight with the cash......

a small ramp likr the one that's advertised is a very useful bit of kit if you have such a car that needs constant looking after....... especially you Simon now you use it for competition.......me, i check the whole car over after every day on the circuit. you'd be surprised what may come loose or break....... too late once you're dead! someone else can enjoy that £150 you saved the week earlier :!:

You can't use that ramp on a GTA, where you would have to place it to get the weight balance would be in the way of the subframe you are trying to remove.

Would be useful to me anyway ,I don't intend changing the clutch myself ever ,leave it to the professionals ( no not Bodie and Doyle ) to much like hard work .For the general nose and fettle it would be a great help ,but if you'd rather make life difficult then I give up ,its a useless bunch of asp :lol: :lol:

The whole point of using a lift, is so you can get the whole lot up in the air easily and undo all the bolts from underneath...

If your ramp isnt going to support the whole weight, then you still have to scrabble around at floor level, so may as well use a good pair of trolley jacks or a beam as Simon said..

just leave it dangling on the engine crane...... it looks newer than the rest of that highly equipped garage...... it must be safer :lol:

my ramp will support it....... its a 3 tonner :lol: unlike the stealth one above

where do you tie up the horses then :?:

Garage?, thats one of the storage areas. Its got 6 more bays that size, horses got lost in it the other day :D :D

..and I don't share it with anybody else either :lol: :wink:

GTA owners "might" get away with it, my beam went straight from jacking point to jacking point and was claer (just, as it was positioned near the rear edge), BUT, you could only use the engine trolley at one end of this ramp. No idea if there is a front rear loading restriction on the ramp, but it looks like very hard work for the lift ram if the engine weight is at the end GTA owners would need.

It still looks like a woobly affair due to the small foot print though. My car was rock solid once it was up at 1.1 meters.
