Alpines spotted on the web

Postby 2P5T » Tue Jun 09, 2009 1:52 pm

I'll start a thread because I've seen a few Alpines photographs on other forums/fora and feel they should be seen here at their spiritual home.

For starters A110 at Chatsworth House Retro Rally 2009 ..

.. and it's towcar ..

The clue by the way is 'in the wheels'

I did find myself saying "it's not 3-stud" but if it isn't an A110 what is it?? It's definitely not an A108.

Are Mexican built A110's 3-stud??

Did someone take some moulds from an A110 and then produce a body to bolt to another chassis? It doesn't happen to have an air-cooled VW or Hillman Imp engine by any chance?

I think you will find that this is a genuine Alpine 110. The four bolts on the wheels tell you that it is one of the last. It also has wishbone suspension as opposed to swing axle. This is a crossover from the 310.

Mr D and Maxi' know what it is! So I will finish it.

Known by a number of names, but it's first name (official) was a "Monte Carlo MC220 Berlinette" built by Darrian, (I believe) to order at about £25k, they cost more than that to build so unfortuantly they were discontinued.

A really good car, very rapid, all the virtues of a A110, with modern underpinnings and engine.

Mr D, sur you can add more and it is an intresting story, so go for it------

By the way, my A310 in the thread :D

Wow! When I mentioned VW and Hillman Imp power one of the things that I was thinking of was Davrian (Darrian's predecessor)! A friend of mine has two, one with Imp power and the other with a 1700cc Ford engine.

By the way, my A310 in the thread :D
Very nice it is too. 8)

Cool tow car 8) Went to the first Rally show at Chatsworth, it was really good. I'll try and go next year.
