Pad area

Does anyone know the front brake pad area for the GTA? I was perusing a Willwood catalogue and figured it would be quite possible to fit their universal callipers to the GTA by making adaptor plates, but wondered how much of an advantage they'd be.

No ,but,use a piece of sellotape to wrap the perimeter of the pad.This will give you a length ( ooerr ) If you then divide this by 2 x pie (6.283) it will give the radius of a circle.Then pie-r-squared will give the surface area.Don,t ask.

Get some squared paper, say about 5mm, draw round the pad, count up the whole squares and then estimate the number of partial squares, Bob's your Uncle again.

No one got a set off the car then???? Obviously if I could be arsed I could do this, but I was hoping someone would know!!!!!!! Its something that I was planning for the future not now. I have figures for the Willwood callipers to caompare.

Pad perimeter 24.3 cm
So surface area about 47cm square

wait till they are about 14, the mess and problems to be cleared up just spreads to out side the house, out side the garden and involves some of their "friends". smoking, underage-uninsured-unroadworthy-unsupervised-motorbikes, complete-direspect for other people and other peoples property other peoples belongings, disobedient, lack of attention when at school, and I just guess it gets worse when girls are about.
Anyway, at least we don't have drugs, stolen cars and the police knocking at the door....... yet.
Enjoy them while they are so young and innocent.

Thanks for that Clee. Very handy to know, but that pad area doesnt seem that small, the average Willwood four pot is about the same....perhaps the extra pots make the difference???

The clamping force is greatly increased with the extra pistons.
