New GTA Turbo Project

Postby BIG_MVS » Sat Oct 30, 2010 7:17 pm

Time to fix one up this time rather than break it :D

This was delivered today (many thanks to Gordon from Brenchley Garage 8) )

Image

It's a 1989 Turbo, been in a tucked up in a garage for the last 5 years. All the underneath looks pretty solid so should just need some cosmetics and a re-commission of the brakes and fluids.

Left it with Ed to work his magic ready for me Mike Brewer to flog it on to the great british public at a bargain price

I am glad I have the seal of approval from "The Daddy" Current standings are:

5 RIP (Broken)

3 Saved (Hurrah :D )

Although by the sound of things the 5th RIP GTA may live again one day  8)

Well spotted, we are going to fit a standard one we had from a previous breaker to keep it original as possible. Got someone interested in it already who has first refusal if not it will be for sale.

It's not too loud but has a much deeper tone to OE. It look squite good as well.

Time for an update.

Well due to Ed getting hitched progress has been slow. However we did manage to track down quite a few parts to get the car towards being totally standard these included:

Radio Cassette
OE Exhaust
Wheels
Various Door and hatch Seals
Pipework
Radiator
Loads of other odds and sods.

The front bumper had some damage around the towing eye so that's now with Andy for a lick of paint.

Now we need to free/replace brakes, fit the bumper then take it for an MOT.

It's quite a nice thing really and if my 610 was written off I was contemplating taking full ownership myself. But as Mike Brewer would say needs must and we need to move on so it will be for sale soon.

I'll take some pics when it's back at mine and I have given it a mint up. The important thing is it's another one saved ready to be enjoyed.

Time for an update. I have just sold my A610 (I'll miss that car) so I'm now keeping this GTA and have plans for it.

I now have an MOT (thanks clee) but it did need quite a bit of work after it's 6 year sleep (welding). Now going to give it a shakedown for a couple of weeks so there will be quite a bit of tinkering to be done.

First thing I noticed is the speedo which is doing the usual bouncing up and down  Also the fuel readout is up and down, I forgot how these GTA's keep you interested and hard at work   The 610 never had any problems at all

Nope, fresh Alpine Ownership Blood. The new owner wants to bring it to Prescot this year so I guess he will introduce himself soon.

Sad to see the 610 go down south but very much hope Richard loves the car. It's a great 610 so I'm sure he will. Isn't it the longest you have owned any car Martin?
