I have been on this forum for since 2004 and finally became a fully paid up member this year. Thought I had better introduce myself properly! I bought my GTA in 1996 with 17000 miles on the clock. It is a late turbo with I believe all the factory extras (full leather inc door cards,air con, abs etc). My brother owned it before me as an ex demo car and it was the demonstrator at the local Renault sport garage in Kent near where I live. It sat on a turn table in the showroom a couple of years and I paid it admiring glances and wished that it would one day be mine and it did become mine! This was my brothers 2nd GTA, the first one (a red one) met an untimely end in a hedge/ field!
So I have had this car for 14 years and only use it on Sunny days etc and it currently has only 30,000 miles on the clock and is in mint conditon as far as I am concerned . I try to do all the work on the car myself where possible and only issues I have had are the usual ones (clutch slave heat sink issues, poor battery life if not trickle charged, blocked radiator etc)
Only upgrades are Avez wheels and straight through Stainless Exhaust and a newer stereo.
I can't see myself ever parting with the GTA as nothing else road car wise makes you feel so connected with the car, the feedback is fantastic. I also drive an Audi S4 which although faster in a straight line feels dead in comparison.
Also would not mind possibly meeting up with any other GTA owners in Kent area next summer.
