3 litre EFI GTA

Postby clee » Sun Jan 30, 2011 1:46 pm

Just in case I get bored with JIL and Andy's Atmo ......Needing to keep busy I have started this conversion .
Grey Atmo that needs paint and headlight glasses but otherwise sound .

Which inlet manifold are you going to use?
Original for the engine, A610 or GTA turbo?
Just curious as I have one of those engines too, I think the original inlet would breath better but I don!t think it will fit against the bulkhead.
What do you plan?
cheers

That was a DINI which I slaughtered that killed the grass off, the 610 is in the garage, with a lovely warm fleece cover on.

Bottom end done :D Cams in .Just need to time it up and put some rocker gear on .Need to spot and drill the new rocker shaft as the oilway line up screw goes in at 45 because of the balance gear on these lumps .

IIRC the rocker shaft is also longer on that side. Why not just stick with the hydraulic rocker shaft?

Will need to ensure the oil feed to the balancer shaft journals front and rear are blocked, or put the shaft back in and lock it off, just a thought

Ahhh good !! ......I was wondering who'd be the one to spot that first .Well done Wilson :P

All timed up ...only one tooth out on the second bank first time out by eye and feel

Need to get the gearbox out for SA so might as well drop the lump in and see just how much room we do have for plenum ....The more I look at it the more I'm inclined to side with Mr Metters on this one ..............

Did you check ok on valve clearance as you swung her round, will be closest around 10 deg after TDC on the inlet, exhaust is way clear. The clearance on the cam grind was as tight as I dare... sorry forgot to mention that  May be worth spin over and check compression?

There is a different inlet tube and TB that comes out at a different angle of dangle to the one on that motor currently, in zee pile of goodies… might be worth having a look at it. If no go, will swap around.
