What a numpty! Crashed my Alpine

Gutted and rather embarressed

I managed to re-create a "Jason Black" yesterday when joining the M58 slip road. Wet road and slightly too much right hand boot saw me doing a 180 then down the embankment, through a fence into a farmers field.

I'm completely fine, the car however has a few battle scars.

Damage to the front and rear bumpers. The worst bit is the rear passenger side 1/4 panel. A post of the fence has puntured the fibreglass just above the wheel arch, there is also damage to the twin rear brake cooling ducts so I guess the whole 1/4 panel will have to be replaced. There is also a crack in the sill just under this area. Apart from that that is the only damage I can see, really lucky in that respect.

The worst damage could be underneath not checked that yet. It did go over a few rocks and was beached on the remnants of the fence. God knows how the recovery people got it out, they did a great job and were really sympathetic to my situation as well as the car. I sent a pic to Clee if he could post as I have misplaced my phone.

I'll have to wait what the insurance say, I'm very hopeful it will get repaired.

Lesson number 2 for any GTA/A610 owners, don't boot it in the wet on roundabouts!

Oh Martin!!!!....Sorry to hear about your off road experience, but glad to hear you are OK. Heres hoping it can be repaired, should hate to see it on ebay for sale......in bits

Hopefully your insurance company are sensible about it. When I broke my nosecone/wing my insurance sent it to Quest in Wigan; they did a good job. I'll post the before and after pics later, maybe it'll make you feel better about yours. Ended up costing the insurance company just fractionally less than I paid for the car...

Sorry to hear about the accident- I am VERY wary of my 610 in the wet having had it fish tale a couple of times soon after I got it. Glad I have leather seats....
From what you say it sounds very repairable as long as the insurance company categorise it fairly.
One of those panels was on ebay recently- and they were also in last Dieppe spares sale-don't know which side, so maybe the parts are available- if it needs that extent of work. Do you have any better pictures?

I do like the idea of an A610 evolution conversion though- that would cover that area completely....

But get it done quickly so its back to the 20 year photo...

Anyway, there is some good news. I drove the car for a mile or two today and it felt OK. Drove and braked straight with no nasty noises. Had a quick look underneath and it looks ok with nothing obvious wrong or damaged.

I must say on the face of it I was really lucky to get away without injury or too much damage to the car.

I think the front bumper could be salvageable, the rear at a push. It definately needs a rear 1/4 panel. Dell Boy are these all available?

Andy - Do you do insurance work? What do you think of the damage?

I think twice about involing insurance companies if you can avoid it. I've seen less damaged cars end up as cat Ds and you really don't want that.

Assuming there is no damage underneath, all of that looks quite easy, to repair but the question is what damage is there underneath?

One of me past GTAs was involved in a side shunt, the damage looked like it would T cut out but then we found the damage underneath.

Here's hoping it is as not too expensive.

Out of interest - what tyres have you got and how much tread? Were the tyre pressures OK?

Driving my Z4M on a daily basis - I can hit a wet roundabout and floor the throttle and the electronics will keep me out of trouble but in anything pre
electronic wizardry days needs a lot of caution.

My last accident involved dodgy tyres and hitting a Police Range Rover in an old Triumph GT6 so at least it ended well
