Shiney new!

Postby peterg » Thu May 19, 2005 4:26 pm

Well Ive got B19 GTA back and I'm very impressed with the respray. Its a mirror finish and although there are a few edges that when examined closely arent perfect its a damn fine job. Without even being asked they have got rid of the wibbily wobbilyness in the bumper Rupert sold me.....they also fixed the gouges in the nose cone. Remember when I said it was going to be £800.....well when I went to collect it they took £700 :D I reckon the father in law to be must have left a horses head in the owners bed!!!! He is a bit of an Alpine fan though....he had an A110 until last year and has owned a couple of GTAs and A610s. He's just sold his Clio V6 255 to buy a 911 and a Smart coupe  ....on top of his Caterham BDA. If only I had that kind of money to burn!!!!
Now.....lets see if I can get round Knockhill next weekend without introducing the new paint to the tyre wall.....or armco

Ah a Smart Coupe

Postby Tony Smith » Thu May 19, 2005 5:23 pm

In my opinion the most overpriced car on sale today! Must be a cheap 911!

Couldn't agree more.... 25 year old rust traps (even the galvanised ones) for £10-12K... crazy. And its not even like they are rare.

He bought a 1970 something RS and is stripping it out as a toy for the track. The Smart coupe is his runabout! I havent seen the Porsche so cant comment on condition but I'm not a fan either.

Not got a picture of your shiny new paint job? Hope mine comes back looking as good as yours sounds!

The chap who owns the body repair shop doing my car has two 911's locked away inside. An 80's 911 turbo and a white non turbo with Martini stripes. Don't know if this is a replica of some kind of rare 911 model or an original. I'll have to ask him.

Whilst doing the repairs to my car, he commented how well made he thought it was and was impressed by the clever design and engineering that makes up the way the GTA is constructed!
GTA V6 Turbo - BTW check your earths!

I meant the 911 must be cheap because the Smart is the most overpriced new car you can buy today!

Actually it turns out it was the most underpriced :?

Apparently Smart were losing approx £3000 on every new roadster and the new boss has now ended production with immediate effect to cut costs.

Only the for-two :D and for-four are left in the range.

That would have made more sense as only the for-two and roadster were 'real' Smarts.

I guess the for-four is cheap to make (hence more profit) being a re-panelled japanese box.
