Panels back in place with plates behind .Waxoiled all down the sills hopefully this will slow down the rot where we can't reach .

How the hell has this car rotted sooo badley and how it had an MOT, god only knows!!! Have had mine on the ramp this weekend just to make sure and all is well thankfully!!! :)

Easy now boys ...lets try and make Rob feel a bit better about it shall we :lol:
To his credit he is getting ALL the shite sorted and when finished will be a first class example .
Front turret repaired ,battery tray is done ,rear turrets ( minimal rot :shock: ) next , then the footwells .
Paint the sills and wheel refurb .
All the rest is over at the unit ready to be built up on the subframe then put back in .

I am just glade he is getting it all sorted as if it was left it would end up as a scrapper but instead is going to be a nice example, if only more people did this to other classics!! All's looking good.

No idea if all this will end up being remotely economical - presumably not - but I just like this car. :)

All the rot we can get at sensibly will be done .Leading edges of the floorpan are not looking too clever .Mark was about to start serious prodding when I left yesterday .
Have a shiny fix to keep your spirits up :lol:

Sadly that front of the floor pan stuff is pretty standard for a 610, most have had some repairs there by now- being straight behind the wheel and inadequately protected. I don't know where Alpine got their steel, but its as bad as my Alfasuds and that takes some doing. Once it starts to rot it goes quickly.
I did mine 5 years ago, and it needs rust proofing and over coating again as all the coating I put on has been removed by road dirt.
Glad its saved now, have you done the battery tray too?

Jesus I am glad theres not as much metal in the GTA it has its problems not just rot I know :lol: but for a plastic car thats awful :shock: just about any metal in the car rusts to nothing.

The one good thing about "Christine" is the chassis/moncoque is very clean as far as I can see :roll: Praying

I didn't realise the 610 was far worse for rust than a GTA I know there is a lot more metal at the front end. I'll definately stick with"Christine" :lol: :lol: :lol:

Lee, try POR15, it's very good marine paint, I have used it on my ( SOLID :lol: ) wheel arches, it does not chip, I love the stuff, I paint all my components with it, not cheap but worth the extra ££££££

I have it on some lower rear wishbones its amazing for a paint on substance; Hammerite does not even come close, mind you your supposed to do lots of processes to do a proper job degrease, etching primer etc its not cheap either but very resilient I was supprised how good it was even if the job missed some of the processes.
