Needs turbo boost hose, brake overhaul, a/c pipes and regas, inner driveshaft gaiter, rusty underneath, dash computer gone wonky, pass door window not working, central locking not working, PAS not working, oil in exhaust and air filter etc etc Body and interior good. Been standing a long time. Good thing I was close by! Didn't have a wasted jouirney.

Shame it's not a complete bargain. However they are pretty common issues with the 610 so it's still a nice buy/rolling project for someone good with the spanners.

There are some metal brackets underneath that go rusty quickly, but do you mean sills, floor wheel arches...how does it compare to Rottbotts pictures....always wanted a yellow one....
Mechanical stuff is just money........and time...and stuck bolts

It has had a plate (badly) welded to the n/s fron corner of the floor and a new battery tray. There has been something going on around the sills, in particular the n/s - lots of seam sealer and a couple of pop rivets. The subframe and rear suspension arms are rusty but redeemable. Turrets look ok as far as I could see. A lot of rust in the brackets attaching to the rear subframe. Generally all saveable, but left another year it would be fubar'd.
Buy it and I can do it in my workshop!

It's the Pretty Polymers car formally J458 JTP. Chassis 85486. RHD car 12.

I had no idea of it's whereabouts until it came up for sale. Don't know how long it's been on ALP 34Y. A real shame it didn't come up before Silverstone for the 20 years.

Belonged to Bernard Walsh for 13 years and Michael Bhamrah for 8 months before him. Before that no idea.

Drives OK apart from the abysmal brakes which need sorting (servo not working?)and no power (keep fit) steering. Some rust in all the usual places, few electrical faults including missing fob but interior suprisingly good. John reckons the best A610 engine he has ever heard despite the mileage. Both rear lights cracked.

Did not overheat despite massive queue on the A3 (due to accident) on the near 100 mile journey home so promising.

Something no-one noticed all the switches on the LH bank of the instrument cluster are missing and blanked off!!?? Strange.

From initial reports thought it may have been a breaker but probably too good for that as cosmetically OK so will fix as much as realistically possible and find it a new home.

Would most likely have gone to France by tomorrow if not bought today. Vendor had dozens of phone calls from abroad.

Mr Miles and Mr Kenny gave it a good look over and road test as well. Missed them by about 30 mins which was a shame as would like to see how my old Avantime is getting on!!

Into the workshop as soon as the Caravelle has gone to tidy up the MOT welding and investigate odd looking N/S sill, then to decide what to do with it.

Thanks to Mr Fitzpatrick for the telephone report!!

That A3 queue was pretty awfull. My left foot aches from that heavy clutch on the 182! You are right about the brakes tho'. I thought the engine was sweet - just worried about the oil in the exhausts and air filter.
I'd like to see it when you've 'had a go'

Certainly had the jungle telegraph going on it today!!

Good to hear its been saved by this club. I had a feeling when I put the details on here that it may be of interest to a few. Well done Dellboy, get some decent pictures of it on here when you get chance. Glad it didn't end up in France, I would have been tempted myself at that price if it had been local!

If it's ALP 34Y I haven't seen this car for 4-5 years may be more? when I Iast serviced/ MoT'd it,
Back then it had a PAS problem where the electric pump motor would sieze & over heat the wiring (3 times in total) and a few other electrical & mechanical issues but over all a good car.

It was a Renault UK press car first, & one owner was a Sainsbury security gaurd, then it was owned by a MD of a software company who did spend money on the up keep but went on to by a Italian soft top but still kept this A610 a little while longer.

Had all the fog light switches been removed and blanked off when you saw it last?

Yes that was me,

We reported on one service that the left hand switch gear (inc rear fog switch) had been badly repaired during someones ownership & the push buttons support plate and circuit board were broken.
We ordered the then avialable switch unit but after 3 months or so it required a MoT so I had to rig one of the redundent switches on the right hand side for the rear fog so a MoT cert could be issued.
As for the switch it never turned up dispite repeated phone calls to Renault parts so it was left as it is.

It is strange that I can remember what was done to this car after so many years, yet I can't remember some of the cars I worked on last week

Here is some of the jobs I recall
1997ish it had starting problems, Flywheel sensor
Around 1998/99 it had a new clutch & various seals
2000 or 2001 it had both head gaskets done.
Abs relays & loom repair due to wiring loom over heating caused buy the first PAS pump failure.
New PAS pump & loom
Both window micro switches for alarm closing
Front fog lamps, driving lamps & Dip beam lamps
16 layers of skin, one finger nail tip & 3 stitches to the head.
Clutch slave cylinder
Heater matrix
Heater fan relay & relay board (over heated connectors)
Rear screen for HRW element not working
And general servicing.

After 2005/6 I don't recall seeing the car again as Berny's new toy had arrived.
