Great thread…

I still want a 124… captured my imagination in airfix rally car form… never lost the bug..

First car before I could and was eligible to drive was one of these, never got back on the road after it was in my hands, engine out, head off skimmed etc etc… parents didn’t think it was safe enough for me to drive on the road after I had it a part… so it went and I got a Beetle, which was also soon apart but was a daily drive in-between. Funniest thing about the 4, was I used to rev it up (open zoomie style headers) as my RE teacher walked past, had a stupid crush on her… no idea what I was thinking at the time! Lol

Image

Jon, Scirocco… I had one of these soon after a complete shed, out went the 1.4L, and in went a 1.9 as you say on the Weber conversion, such fun, still have the engine.. sad init!
... A diamond is only a piece of coal that did well under pressure... PRV afflicted, may be I need to squeeze harder!!!!

Vincent the Viva. Extremely rusty. De bumpered. Roof gutters removed. Brush painted white with black detailing. Blue vinyl interior. Lovely.

Will look for a photo.

Should have bought the Triumph GT6 which was the same price and equally as rusty...

My first ever car was a Fairthorpe Electron Minor. This car had a stage 4 Triumph Spitfire engine.

I wish I'd hung on to it!

Great Topic, Mine was a white(ish) Triumph Herald 13/60 Convertible, a little scruffy around the edges but took me everywhere.
It was stolen from Froggatt Edge near Sheffield while I was climbing one day, still look at ads to see if it comes up.

Fantastic car. A great hack about the place and so much fun to drive.
Sold it for scrap by the time I had finished it.

Some crackers there guys, we were all "Living the dream"

Hey PaulYA610 - Interesting you had a 309 as well, mine had the full length sunroof which was great did yours? I've always fancied a Brooklands one 8)

My next car was a 2.0 GLI Cavalier with starship mileage (ex lease car), it was superb. Then came the first in a very long line of Renault 21 Turbo's. It was a red 1988 Renault 21 Turbo which I bought from my dad (his 2nd) and the rest is pretty much history as they say :D

1977 Mini 1000 which I used to smarten up with rattle cans and rust converter. Two years later it was upgraded to a 1984 Mini Mayfair, still 998cc, then my only ever new car, a Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 which was driven hard all the time for five years, then it was Alpine time.

Well impressed with the Fairthorpe by the way.
