Low water level sensor

Can someone tell me where the low water level sensor is for the coolant. The header tank has plenty in it but the light comes on the dash but not all the time. I did change the thermostat the other day if that has any bearing in it? I expected to see it in the top or side of the header tank but had a quick look and couldn't see it.

Umm..... I have not come across a low coolant level light on the dash of an Alp, but I have come across a low level screen clean sensor which operates a light on the dash...... unless someone else knows different.

No engine coolant level sensor ...you need to look in the tank .

I thought very very early versions had one. I'm sure it's in the drivers handbook. Might have just been those Frenchies...

I have a D plate here and no sign of one but you never know .

Ok my bad then. I assumed the warning light that looked like a coolant level warning, bottom row about three from the left, was it bit it's obviously something different. I'll check the handbook now I'm home.

Had a look and it's the bottom row light second in from the right and according to the handbook is the coolant temperature warning light. The temp gauge on the left tells me the engine is running cool enough and I let the car idle tonight to check that the fans would cut in if needed. Once the temp gauge was circa 3/4 the fans cut in and cooled the temps down as it should until it was below half and they the fans stopped. All perfect but the coolant temp warning light was still illuminated. Can anyone tell me which sender operates this and where is it located?

Ahhh!! ... that light ..... the switch for the high coolant temperature light is integrable with the variable sensor that drives the temp gauge in the Temperature sensor which is screwed into the Thermostat Housing. Two wires leave the sensor, one goes to the gauge and the other, to the light.

It's the one on the right .Will have a small 2 pin black plug on the loom side .Wiggle the wires and see what happens .

Rad fans are switched separately with a sensor in the rad and are not related .

No , the engine loom .There are usually shorts just waiting to occur
