If I remember correctly, there was a guy in switzerland who came on here and said that his car (or his friends car) had 400hp.

If your search, you may find it... I have a feeling he was 'roman' but I could be getting confused.

Yes i have read that thread

Was not as proud to live overhere after that :D

Nooo nothing to do with this, the car (i was talking) was a serious racer from a professional french racingteam.
It was just the look (not the motor) that triggered me to build my own one like that!

We're about to do our own engine, we already know how and what to put in, tell about it when we start putting the things together.

What type of LSD are you using?
ATB type like Quaife from GTO, or a Plate?

I'll use the Quaife ATB, think the only option for my budget and maintenance-free, i will tell as soon as i can do some testing.
I drove a clio v6 once with one installed and it was a huge difference to drive.
I could directly jump into another one without LSD then to compare.
Do you already have a special diff in your car?

Brakeservo, brakebooster repair

Postby turbohead » Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:00 am

As i had my brakes with new lines, rebuilt master cylinder etc all done, the rusty brakebooster did not fit the concept.

While removing, two of the bolts started turning loose, even if i was very carfully. Decision to buy a new one was done at that moment. I had to cut the bolts with "just" a sawblade, things we all love.
Anyway when it was out, i asked all the supliers, no new brake servos aviable!!!
So what to do, make an other one fit, Simon told me that it's possible to repair, so i thought i split it and see how the membrane looks etc.

To split it, best for me was that tool
Image

Loose the lashes all round, but just a bit, not fully open
Image[/b]

After a while of moving them, you can split the two halfs by turning them a couple of degrees, spring inside helps you, danger
Surprisingly, the membrane looked totally new, fully elastic so i thought its worth to use it.

So welding on new bolts from the inside, remove rust, prime and paint.

I also gave a weldtack to the other oe, pressed bolts, to avoid problems for the next time...if..
Then put all together as it was, and hit the lashes back in with a screwdriver and a hammer, take care doing it very good, because at the end, your life is hanging on these lashes
And take special brake past to lube everything that moves, because the seals (brake systhems) do not like copperpaste or mineral-oil based things!

..... .... 8) ...noooo, back on it...lost motivation for a while because there was no time to work on it, it's always like that to me, no progress, no motivation, but i think i'll find a way to manage both! 8)
Single (-seater) and marriage (-Reno)...and wife...

If all goes well, single seater will be this one
Image

GTA, a bit doing all at once at the moment:
Headers will be something like this:
Image

Most important thing to me is to keep it single turbo, because of the challenge, and i don't want any gramm more in the back of the car, also the reason why i want to keep the turbo in the front of the engine bay.

I think on this setup, flow, gasspeed, and little volume and surface of tubing, and very smooth bends and angles is much more important then equal length etc, first idea was like that:
Image
...would keep the volume smaller, and the gasspeed faster, but there is not enough space in the engine bay, so i wrapped the shortest one round
Image
to gain some space for very smooth secondaries.

:D the styropor advent-rings made it easier to find out where is space! 8)

Material of the headers is SS321, actually the only payable material that can handle the heat for long lasting, i'm using unwelded double-slip-connections, to allow to expand etc, thought no compromises on this very critical parts.Image

I'll vent the manifolds with one WG each bank from the secondaries, because there will be a lot of gas passing through them at high revs, and it will be balanced well so i can lead each bank totally separated into the twinscroll turbo.

I'm also working at the inlet tract, welded two CC's together for one proper unit. OE throttlebody is too small, so it had to go. Using a VW one, made an adapter plate to fit. Looks like this:

VERY COOL.
And looks like you can make this stuff while on the Red Wine too.
Impressed.
Looking forward to seeing it in the car and on the road.

Hi Chris :-)

Great to see you are back at it.... nothing wrong with a U-turn, especially when you're a politician, lol... I hope it works out to be a good call for you.

Single seater is going to be great fun! Go fo it :-)

Right, you needed header centre line - keep them to 108mm, and this will be fine.

Hope that helps ;-)

Hi Martin :D
Thank you! Good that i'm "just" a manual workman, so i can u-turn without all the political debates

Thanks for the measure. Will you be doing the head-flanges to suit the new ports and mounting holes? If so, i'll do an aluminium dummy with the centerline bores, to be able to weld tack the 3in1's in the engine bay. Then i can weld them, and they will suit the final flanges.

Kind regards
Chris

Hi Chris :-) ... cup of tea and chocolate perhaps? ;-)

Right, what I'll do is give you the offset from the rear of each head, will that work for you, and then the centres will go from there... need a picture?

hmm chocolates and flowers...

Offset measure would be great, just say forwards or backwards (in driving direction of the car) for each side, standing behind the car to make sure that i don't misunderstand your "back of the heads".
Thanks!
