Jochem's GTA V6 Turbo from Holland

Postby Jochem » Mon Sep 03, 2012 10:36 am

Hi my name is Jochem, and I have a GTA....
I like the information on this forum, it helps me a lot....to understand my GTA.

The Alpine didn't move for 8 years..so you can imagine that there was some work.
It was standing in a renault showroom for years, but at least dry.

Some photo's..when i just washed the car.

Some points that have to be done:

The tyers are wasted, dry cracks...all 4 of them.
The multi belt
Spark plugs
Oil...motor/gearbox
Brakefluid
etc

But the real problem was...that the car wouldn't start after it was driven.
The second start... only happend when I get a extra battery with jumpercables...

And the problem was not in the battery....
I was in the wiring ....It took a while but the problem is gone.

When I buy a "new" car, I always put it on a dyno (after some service) just to see how it runs.

This is the D502 with a catalysis so 185 hp instead of 200 hp.

So the logical thing to do .....get rid off the catalysis..

Image

Image

measure everything, ajust the machines and start building

Image

Making the plate for the catalysis

Final result of the catalysis replacment

And then the mufler......sort off

A laser to pin point the middle

A bit of spit and polish

And the result.

Nice looking GTA you have there. Thanks for posting the pics.

I like the ART stylee exhaust you have, do you not have Laws in Holland that you have to have the CAT fitted?

I saw after we made it, that il looks like the ART exhaust...
But much cheaper :D

Yup when there is U9( CAT) on the car-papers it has to be fiited on the car...
But on the other side if the exhaustfumes are good, there is no problem.

I never mention it to the MOT man....if he is oke with it, so am I. :D

Hi Jochem,

Nice work, very nice fabrication 8) and welcome to the forum :)

You certainly have a great workshop that you can play in, much envy! What do you make there normally out of interest?

.

Well very nice, may be you could sell a few on here?

Were those mandrel bends that you made up, or pre-formed bend sections? I have a bend problem I need to solve, as the exhaust chaps that did mine made the bend one side very sharp and gives up much on flow  So thinking of chopping the bend out and welding in another section.

I used to go to Leiden quite often a few years back. On one trip I went to a garage near the rail station which was just full of Alpines. I just wondered if that garage was still there. Next time I'm going through from Ijmuiden to Brussels I will have to look you up. I also have a GTA V6 Carbed 1989, which is still being sorted. :D
