Never on it when I bought it too.

I think by looking at the old "stumps" where they were pop rivited to it looks like they were corroded and either fell off or were put to one side to be re-riveted on.

See previous owner to me asking the same question...

Still working on it, the BMW ones I found point the wrong way. Not many do these stupid ventilated covers for the Alt. Making one will be a difficult job as we don't want any metal to touch the Alternator...... the Quest continues.....

Filippo/Lee,

The original A610 alternator heatshield was also used on some Venturis - if you know anyone in the V fraternity they may be able to help. My heatshield was missing originally and I acquired one that had indeed come off a Venturi.

However, the standard Valeo cover from GTA alternators can be made to fit well (I've done it), with a little careful trimming, so that it orientates correctly - the 3 mounting points align with 3 of the 6 studs on the alternator - if you jiggle one around you will see the obvious alignment. I don't know whether the covers are still available from Renault, but they are a standard Valeo part - I bought one a while ago. I will see if I can dig it out and extract the part number. Or use an old one of course...

Hope this might help
