Grab it whilst you can ....all parts are getting thin on the ground .I just nabbed a couple of sets of turbo piston rings from UK supplier ...Simon,Meca etc sill have bits but it costs ..

Semi-sealed up lump waiting for when I can get the car to the unit .

I can still find parts in the US for the NA engines but the Threebond 1215 is a bit harder to find. Are there any other sealants used for the block/crankcase? Thinking ahead, what is used for the gearbox? Thanks for the help.

Trying to find someone to CO2 blast the block. Vapor blasting is uncommon here. I have bearings and other bits on the way so I want to get pull it all together as soon as possible..

I have a copy of the manual for the car and it says use Rhodorsil CAF 33 for the block/lower block joint face. As I had no knowledge of other sealants I tried to find it on the web and came up with a company, Bentley Advanced Materials, and bought a tube from them in March this year. I can't now find it on their website but its name now is Bluesil CAF 33 made by Bluestar Silicones. The one clee mentioned may be more modern than this but, as I said, when I was looking I didn't know of alternatives.

I had the gearbox rebuilt by a specialist and I don't know what he used. Where I can see it at the joint it looks like silicon and is black. Maybe similar material.

Firstly, apologies to Lee for these tangential additions to your thread. Maybe useful to others though.

My Volvo Autobook refers to Curil K2 as a block/lower block sealant. Found this American dealer selling it plus this Elring data about the product.

The rocker cover and especially the timing cover gasket look exactly what I meant by 'egg box' material.
Compare the timing cover gasket with the Payen gasket I bought a couple of days ago.

Good info, can you post up part numbers, think that will be useful to other folk, eg Cedric has got an engine build going on too, these little nugets all help towards better builds.

First photo is label in timing cover gasket set. Unfortunately the bottom of the label has been cut off. The hand written label was by the Ebay seller. The set included the pulley seal.
The other photo shows the contents of the head set and the label that was on one of the head gaskets.
I've asked the Ebay seller if he has any more of these sets and he has replied saying he has many gasket sets and will get back to me with specific details. If anything is of interest I'll advise.

I've just got 8 pairs of rocker cover gasket ,mostly Payen but am struggling to find the timing cover .If he has any I will take them please .

Whilst I'm waiting an answer from the Ebay seller I had a look at this supplier. I haven't used them for anything before so don't know what they're like but they're showing the timing cover gasket.
