Something to do with the coolant system?
In the video, the coolant gauge showed more than 130 deg C immediately on starting the engine.
Just an instrument problem?

Depends if phildini turns up 8)

Got a few hours in for more in depth nosing ...generally looking good with minimal rot ( famous last words ) .
Hose leak was from expansion tank lower to main hose but just the small hose itself rather than the main pipe joint .
Final fix on the ig module but the revs stay high at idle ,new valve doesn't help but think it all just needs a few heat cycles and clean .
Clutch works brakes need a bleed ,wipers now on and not seized  .Rad fan cuts in as and when it should and bonus is the A/C seems to do something albeit not too hot ..or should that be ...A/C flap works ,I like a nice moving flap .
Fuel pump is whinging a bit at rear ,front needs 2 new tyres ,need a new/used headlamp cover drivers ,need to find a non fail set of rear clusters .
That about it so far .Up on the ramp with a couple of others this week for a closer nose and to see what is install for me on my return .

Might have to grab that set of cams from you MoFo and build up a lump to throw in it innit .Unless you fancy doing a set of heads as well whilst I'm at it

Image
Subframe etc is pretty grotty but I think solid enough .Will see what happens at MOT but don't want to be pulling it apart anytime soon .I have enough parts ready for about 3 more cars on the old running gear front .

Had this up in the air today and ....as a rock

Image

A/C system all looks recently re-furbed and apart from a lot of surface grot the car is sound ..A keeper I think and I may even break the habit of a lifetime and spend some money on paint and cosmetics
With the leather and A/C I'm thinking to get it knocked back into shape and put it in the bank for a rainy day .
I found a set of decent enough rear clusters ...all fixings missing but OK on the outside .Alt seems to be a wiring fault as a wiggle gives proper charge rate and the light go out .

although crap, you gotta hand to ashford and simpson for getting in some titles before the smiths, nirvana, hot chip, the clash and Pulp as well as just getting away with murder with some of their other titles.
