Cheapish spider for sale

Don't know if anyone's interested but there's a nice looking 2,000 mile spider on the autotrader website. Its LHD, is in red and has the original wind diffuser fitted. I think it looks quite good and you could probably get it for 10/11k.

Certainly a bit more realistic than those other two chancers (Yellow and Blue) wanting 17k and 16k respectively!!! oh, and they're both LHD too!

Seen it mate, it's been advertised a couple of times over the last 12 months, and i've thought about it as i'm in France now and it's quite cheap! probelem being having to pay full vat on it if i export is as the miles are so low still classed as a new car

hey , the bloke sitting next to me and looking over my shoulder ......, suggests you try to borrow a speedo from a car with a lot more miles, export this new car vat free and then swap the speedos back again.

Good idea mate!!! Like my yellow one, but it's the ecu which has to be swapped as the data is held on a chip on the ecu and i don't have a circuit diagram otherwise i'd find a way of reprogramming it!

I'm gonna call the guy today I think see if we can strike a deal!

my mate John, he suggests "swap the ecu then", I told him "Renault electrics are never that simple", but is it worth a try?

The immobiliser circuits on the Renault ecus after 1992 are tied into the loom to the ignition barrel, so it normally doesn't work..

should be alright if we've got the keys to go with it then

Don't know.., because the transponder is in the barrel, and that needs to match the key and the ecu.

On a Safrane for insance, if you want to change the ecu, you need to change the barrel and keys..

I've had an idea Andy. Save yourself a lot of time and effort.... You buy the car, leave it with me for 6 months, i'll put loads of miles on it for you and then you can take it to France tax free. Voila.

I must admit, it does look mighty fine in Red.

look at the picture of it a bit more carefully and ther is a headlight cover missing on the driver's side..... get that price down i think

no need to worry about the tax.... leave it on UK PLATES whack aload of miles on it myself and trhen import it to France sorted!!!

better idea , bung the French Mot tester 100 Euros and he'll put what milage i want on the ticket .......and You only need an MOT here every 2 years

D.G. as the problem with the key...... doesn't the key just need to be near to the transponder in the car as i've had an experience with a VW previously where the key was broken so we had a new blank key cut and left the transponder part of the old key on the keyring next to it and the beast started fine....

nah, what im saying ( and this is what ive found on some Renaults) is the ecu and barrel and key is a complete system. The barrel transponder is coded to the ecu. So if you use the ecu from another car, you need its barrel too. Doesn't work with the old key in proximity to the barrel. The immobiliser is actually built into the ecu, not external like most aftermarket immobilisers which work from the barrel and immobilise the starter/fuel pump.

...but, it might not be like this on a spider!

Well spotted eagle eyes!! Makes you wonder if the drivers side is sporting any other damage.

So, anyway, have you spoken to the vendor? or is it already on the back of a trailer heading towards the eurotunnel??
