boost spike

ive just set my boost to 15psi but as soon as it hits 15 it drops to 10psi i was thinking of doing away with the bleedvalve(art) and just setting it up on the actuator would this make a difference :?:

I don't think that would work as the actuator is only opening the wastegate ,its the manual boost control that determines when this happens
and so increases the level of boost required to do so .The actuator has a threaded section to position the valve correctly ,at least that's my understanding :o David G where ART tho :?:

you can adjust the boost by shorting the rod on the actuator so i dont really need a bleedvalve its just a pain if i wanted to increase/decrease the boost as i would have to take all the heatshields off what i really need is davids ecu so i can run an elecronic boost controller(blitz,hks etc)

Why do you have to remove the heatshields :? The controller just plumbs in to the vac pipe between the plenum chamber and the actuator .

i mean if i was to bin the bleedvalve and just set the boost by shorting the actuator rod

Aaahhh ,right, with you now :lol: I think you'd be better off with the valve ,doesn't shortening the rod just restrict the airflow whereas the valve still allows full opening :?:

Thats a big drop in boost, id check for boost leaks first...

Also check your dumpvalve is the correct way round and alot of GTA's were made with it in the wrong orientation.

...actually.....change the dump valve too....!

Try it on the actuator after checking all that, failing that you may need a stronger spring in the actuator...

the dumpvalve is aftermarket,i will check tomoz for airleaks shouldnt the actuator have a 14psi spring in it :?:

Yep, it came with a 14psi spring, but boost response does relate to how much you have the rod wound in.

I would replace the dump valve Steve.
I put a graduated boost gauge in the car, standard set-up and boost was peeking at 11 and dropping to 7ish psi.
At DGs advice I changed the old plastic bosch DV for a bailey unit and then it boosted to 11 and only fell off to 10 psi, as it should.

He said he had an aftermarket one, dont know if its recirc or atmospheric.

May be worth checking the diaphragm/spring though...
