2017 Speed Championship - Classic Marques Car Club

Postby simontaylor » Wed Oct 26, 2016 11:50 pm

How about a Nationwide Championship so that everyone can have the chance to join in, or just turn up at events and see other fellow super car drivers?
Well, Classic Marques Car Club organises a national championship with 24 rounds. After speaking to the organiser, he would be happy to create a sub-class just for Alpine or Renault, as he already does for TVR and Lotus etc. Or, as a club we can declare our winner as the leading Alpine driver.
The class structure is very open and there is a "Percentage" handicap system based upon Flywheel power and Weight.
These are the 2016 rounds, to give you an idea, who is up for it.

They are on FB too, Steve who runs it sends updates the following day after events with pictures as well as results.

what do you mean about a "cut-off" ?
I did not see this in the regulations.

thats odd, There was an S2000 and Boxter at last event, and an MX5. All younger than 1985.
I'll get it checked out.

Martin, can you post a link, or help me find this 1985 reference, because Championship organiser says 1985 is wrong.
He actually wants some Alpine cars, and he knows Tim for years.

Martin, the intro on my PC on FB says :
DESCRIPTION = Classic Marques Speed Challenge is an algorithmic handicap speed championship run by CMSCC for sports and sports saloon cars.

Nothing about 1985.

Hi Simon,

Yes I know, checked that. It was on the facebook group intro page before you join the facebook group, once joined you don't see it anymore. I did check and read at the time, and stuck in my memory, that was why I was surprised.

Cheers,
Martin
