Not keen on the wing mirrors compared to the original (Makes it look like Gary Linekar) concept but apart from that it look superb.

Small feature in autocar today.

Think holding back the "performance" version might be a mistake. Will put people off buying the first release if they know something better is in the pipeline.

Who's going to be the first club member to get one?

I'll probably break one in 20 years time if I'm still around.

Its never hurt BMW or Mercedes. The M cars & AMG versions are usually a couple of years behind the bread & butter models. That said, you could well be right. Alpine owners are a bit more discerning than most. ::L ::E ::M ::M ::I ::N ::G ::S

Does look lovely. Hopefully for us, the depreciation curve will follow most other Alpine's and Renault's over the years and will be worth 30% of the new price after 3 years and 30,000 miles. Might just take a punt then. That's if anyone buys one in the first place. Fingers crossed they do.
It's against my religion of bangernomics to buy a car that depreciates in value. Buying a new car is like taking a massive bundle of £50's and systematically setting fire to every single one and watching them burn. Of course I'm glad those that can buy new, do! :up

No the manufacturers do it a totally different way now, not many people have the money to buy a new car as all the manufacturers have over inflated the cost of the cars.
They want to sell the new cars on PCP contracts as much as possible and it's unbelievable people do it, Alfa keep on trying to tempt me with a 4C and keep trying get me on a PCP this is how they get the bulk of their money out of the car at your expense. After the contract ends the bulk of the money it's all profit when they sell it. The 4C deal £4999 down 24 monthly payments 599 / total £19,375 Then hand the car back. Then on the forecourt 2 years old full service history one owner £44.995.
But everyone seems to do it but all like losing money even with a tax break it's still not worth it they have just had their :Butt

It is rather odd the way people want new cars but then treat them like disposable items, but I guess the governments and even the manufacturers encourage the sheep to look at it this way...

You'd never buy a house on a PCP basis but a car is probably your second largest purchase after a house...

As for Alpine holding back a high performance model, the majority of sales always depend on price, so if the high performance model costs 250k whilst the standard costs 50k, there'll be more standard models on the road.

Hi all,

I'm new on the site. I'm not (yet) an Alpine owner, but I'm French and as many of my compatriots,
I'm excited by the return of the Alpine brand.
I've been waiting for years for the return of Alpine.
As I'm registered on some French automotive forums, I can grasp some informations you don't have yet and shareit with you.

The first one I can share is that there has been an Alpine CEO (M. Vd Sande) conference this week on Nov. 15th
and we got few informations.
I left it in French; it's too big for google translate.
You can google translate by pieces, or some may understand French...;)

PS : You'll be happy to learn Alpine will definitely distributed in the UK.

Rgs.

Didz.

Thanks Didz for providing this information.
I just happened to be using Google Translate when this came in so here it is, straight from Google Translate, without any editing or tidying up. Doesn't look as if it needs much.

Why Paris Dauphine University?
Simply because there has been a partnership for some years between the Renault group and the MBA International Management of Paris Dauphine.
The intervention of Michael VAN DER SANDE lasted about thirty minutes.

Here is the information I have included:

Why revive the brand?
For two reasons :
- The 1st being the image. This segment is a segment of enthusiasts who makes people dream, even those who will not be customers.
- The second reason is profitability. The premium segment makes it possible to achieve profitability despite its low volume (It estimates the market for "real sports" around the 300,000 new vehicles / year in the world).
The Alpine structure is part of the Renault group.
Alpine has a dedicated team of about 130 people. One hundred for the development side and thirty for the administration / sales side.
To form these teams, they took "the best" in the Renault group and made some external recruitments.

For its start-up, Alpine will be present in 14 markets (all European, including Switzerland & UK) and will rely on 60 concessions from the Renault Group, all of which have already been selected.
The showrooms and sellers will be dedicated to Alpine (no details for the maintenance part, and I did not think of re-launching it after that, but the next sentence implies a dedicated Alpine interview).
Only part of the back office will be shared between selected Renault dealerships and Alpine showrooms.
In 2018, Alpine will tackle the Japanese market.
The first results will determine the follow-up for other markets.

On the vehicle side, no revelation.
The engine (4 cylinders) comes from the Renault / Nissan alliance.
The chassis is specific and will be well mounted in Dieppe.

The car will meet the following criteria: compact, lightweight, rear engine and above all, it will be very agile.
The vehicle must be powerful to legitimize the model among the enthusiasts while remaining accessible (in terms of habitability).
On the suspensions side, they will be comfortable without sacrificing performance (I therefore deduce two possibilities, pilot suspensions or two finishes in terms of chassis, I will lean for the second hypothesis).
They are focused on the current model that could receive a hybrid version in the future.

If the success of the revival of the brand is at the rendezvous, they will study the possibility of proposing other models.
With only one objective, whatever the segment, the Alpine must necessarily be the most agile of their respective segment.
In performance, the 4.5 seconds to shoot 0 to 100km / h was repeated.
As for the gearbox, they do not envisage in the short term to propose a BVM.
Finally, the Alpine will be the best of its segment in terms of CO² emissions, thanks to its low weight.
On the price side, it will be between a Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy R and a used A110 ...

Communication:
No traditional / mass advertising. We will not see any commercials on TF1.
The target being "pointed", characterized by passionate and well-off people.

3 main communication axes:
1st axis, rely on the community of enthusiasts. Bringing a common experience to their customers, based on the sharing of passion (the circuit being perceived as a very favorable vector). The idea is that enthusiasts talk and share their passions, which allows "to animate the brand".
Hence the presentation of the Celebration in the margins of the 24h of Le Mans, the showcar Vision with 80 owners of Berlinette in Monaco, the presence of both vehicles at the Goodwood Festival ... etc.

The second axis, will be based on digital through websites and social networks.

Finally, they will rely on the written press to associate the new vehicle with the history of the brand.
As you will understand, no particular announcement at this conference.
Mr VAN DER SANDE relaying the speech of Mr GHOSN during the presentation of the Vison last February.
The only difference with the Vision.
This last reflecting to 85-90% the model marketed according to Mr VAN DER SANDE Vs the 80% announced in February ... in short, RAS.

For those who wish, you will find my two videos of the conference (sorry for the quality of the sound, we do with the means of the board).
Part 1
Https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_ ... 0183724858
Part 2
Https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_ ... 0183724858

As a follow-up to this conference, there was a cocktail during which we were able to exchange informally with Mr VAN DER SANDE, who surprised me by his accessibility.

During these exchanges, he confirmed that the purchase orders were not open to date.
As indicated by Interlagos, the process will be the following, opening pre-orders, then a few months later, validation of the order (this is when the choice on the finishes will have to be made).
Concerning the opening period of pre-orders, I only got one: soon.
Asking if the pre-orders will be opened before the official presentation of the final model next January: mrgreen: he replied that he did not confirm that the presentation would take place at that time.
Very personal interpretations, I understood between the lines that this presentation would take place after January.

As for the animation of the community, he told us that there would eventually be rolling days on circuit as proposed by Renault Sport (JPRS).
After format, frequency ... etc. Are not yet determined.
1970 A110V85 and 1980 A310V6.
