On the price side, it will be between a Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy R and a used A110 ...

Sufficiently vague then, plenty of scope variation at the top end.
1970 A110V85 and 1980 A310V6.

Looks like a more hardcore, a cabriolet version and an SUV (to make money...) are already Under Advanced preparation...

Pre-orders are opened for the new Alpine since today.
Unfortunately, deliveries will be end of next year only, what a pity (so long waiting...).
There will be a first numbered batch of 1955 vehicules which is matching with Alpine brand bearthday; I find that's very original.
Looks like price will be between 55 & 60 K€ for this limited serie.
Difficult to make a decision when you have not any info on the characteristics & performance;

Google translate :

Dear passionate,

As you know, for many months, our best talents have participated in the design of the first series model that marks the renewal of Alpine.

A first exclusive series, bearing the still confidential name of "First Edition", will be numbered and limited to 1955 copies. The first deliveries are planned from the end of 2017.

I have today the pleasure to inform you that you can choose in preview your favorite number and the color of your Alpine First Edition. To ensure the reservation of this number, an Alpine application has been specially created on the store. It can be downloaded on your smartphones (Apple or Android).

This limited edition will be unveiled to the general public in a few months.

If you encounter any problems, do not hesitate to contact us and our team will be happy to help you.

See you soon !

Thanks for all the updates Didz.

There is even an app to place your order, note UK deliveries of the initial run is scheduled for 2018 but there is no mention of RHD.

never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

Pretty vague about everything related to the car other than please pay 2k Euros :-) downloaded the app and virtually nothing on it and nothing under news either. Nothing to inspire me currently I'm afraid and there will be close to 2000 "limited" edition models, not exactly rare. Had there been 200 launch editions with a spec sheet attached.........................

all true Trev and I am not sure we have even seen a photo of the definitive, as to be launched, version. For the moment I would rather 0.4% of pathetic interest in the bank.

The 2000 Euro is refundable if you don't proceed with the order but, I agree, all a bit too vague at the moment regarding specification and final appearance.

As Trevor says 1955 is probably too many cars for a first limited edition but shows they have ambitious sales targets.

A couple of photos of the actual car may have helped.

What would you have Blue / White or Black?

Jeremy at RUK says we can order LHD for the UK as an option.

I think they took so much time to make it what we're waiting for, a real toy you can enjoy every day, a "lover" !

I think the expectation that people will reserve a car without it having a confirmed model name/number is daft (a120 / as2 ..or whatever)...and perhaps a bit arrogant. (given the last car Alpine made was 25 ago..and the DNA/continuity lost)..I'm not sure they have thought about their target audience...

Who's going to tell their mates partners colleagues "I've reserved one of those Alpine "Thingamajigs" I don't know what it's called but I do know the serial number is 1347 of 1955".. utter madness.

Using an anonymous App which probably cost less than 2k to knock out..also does not inspire confidence.

Frustrating...just don't want Alpine to mess this up. The Alpine brand has been out of the game for ~25 years...so they have to inspire confidence with new customers... people with 60k to spend on a weekend car have high expectations.

Here endeth my rant...:)

I'd love to see these sell like hotcakes..I guess given there is no commitment to buy and you are half tempted then there's nothing to lose...you might even get to sell it on at a profit..if the motoring press get behind it...they need to just get it out there and get some good reviews..
